Clemson Week Media: Mario, Dawson & Guidry ( Monday 10-16)

I can’t believe Dawson had to explain passing concepts and read progression. Dumbest media.

He was spitting straight facts about TVD.

“This game I thought Tyler played a great game, probably the best game of the year from my perspective other than A&M and he had about three bad plays,” Dawson said. “And those three bad plays were costly plays. Other than that he played really hard, it was a physical game, and he hung in there. The touchdown throw to (Jacolby) George on the wheel route getting smashed, that’s as elite as I’ve seen.

“Our quarterback is never going to play 80 snaps and 80 snaps `He did the exact right thing on every play.’”

Dawson added of Restrepo continually being heavily targeted that “The ball finds you when you’re open, making plays and the quarterback is comfortable with you.”

He went on to say that some plays have Restrepo as the #1 read, others have his position as one of the options. He doesn't send plays in with the recipient pre-determined (unless it's a screen).

He doesn't seem to have any issue with the distribution of the football.

When asked about Horton, Brashard SMith and Tyler Harrell getting more reps this past weekend, he mentioned he expects that to continue. He said it was pre-designed to work them in more as the season progressed, citing the fact that X, JG and Colbie will likely hit a wall and physically get a little beat up. He noted that the offense has increased from 65-70 snaps early in the season to 80+ in the past two games. Guys feel that and need a break.
He expects those guys to see more reps as well as the TE going forward

Sounds like someone who has been repeatedly humbled in close succession.
this is the mario we've gotten thus far:

lance needs to get his safties to wake the **** up and for the love of Miami football. Stop dropping Harvey, Kelly, and Bain into coverage. I almost lost it when I saw Bain dropping against UNC

Agree completely and I've been saying the same thing all morning. He was really good overall, but just seems like Murphy's Law, when he does make a mistake, it's an absolute killer. We don't ever get the luxury of our QBs interceptions to be glorified punts where the DB catches it and falls down 40 yards down the field. Ours are only inside our 30 yard line or we hit a DB on a dead run.

Tough part for me is when I look at this roster I don’t see much we can really do X and O wise

Like sure people can always ***** and complain and cop out like what we ARENT doing is somehow the magic secret. Throw to the TEs. Get Harrell involved. Get Joseph involved. Use CJ. Get the Brown brothers on the field etc etc

Truth is that’s probably 99% not gonna do anything. But it’s fun to say because you can’t be wrong. Just like last year people screaming for Skinner to play over Mallory, and then he did and couldn’t catch or block and people were still like “oh he just needs reps”

Truth is we need more talent at some critical spots to see meaningful changes. That’s not a talent excuse mind you, it’s just an expectation that each week certain players will somehow become something they aren’t

BUT

One thing these ******** in charge can do is make sure their kids are lined up correctly, not committing stupid penalties, playing under control, and don’t let me forget….not doing blundering mistakes themselves

It’s a ******* embarrassment to have a disciplinarian tough guy as a coach that has always been a penalty machine

We can’t get better talent wise but we can certainly get a lot better discipline wise

Sad
