Clemson vs Syracuse

Clemson feels like another small town Southern school that thrived during the days of $500 handshakes and $10-20,000 duffel bags of cash. But in the world of NIL they just can’t consistently compete for talent. And without transfers on top of that it seems like Clemson’s run at the top may have come to an end.

Nah Clemson have been on a consistent downturn for a while.

Dabo's refusal to use the Portal and NIL (so everyone can pay football players now, not just those with car dealerships / church foundations...) has steadily eroded their talent advantage.
I agree they have been on the decline. Just speaking on media expectations versus the reality of the team. They were clearly the runaway team to dominate the ACC. They thought they were so much better than us. Once again the “experts” know nothing

I wonder if clemsons downfall has anything to do with our resurgence?
My uneducated 2 cents:

1. I think Mario has dramatically improved our recruiting - keeping clemson’s talent limited. Not saying they don’t still recruit well - but maybe there are 2-3 productive players we land and they don’t

2. Nil- in short, everyone can pay players now legally without the worry of the ncaa. Certain southern schools now have to get into bidding wars with schools with large financial resources - in the past schools like Miami were limited (ncaa would hammer us but not the bama’s/clemson’s of the world)

3. Portal - Coaching malpractice taking so long to use this talent acquisition tool. They’re 2-3 years late to the party while we’re reaping the benefits of someone like mesidor who transferred in and has been entrenched in our system for a few years

This makes both Clemson and LSu look much weaker. Clemson looks similar to UF. Good talent, below average QB play, below average coaching, players playing slow…sound familiar?
