This is another glaring indictment of preseason rankings. There is no point in them except for generating narratives.

It gives teams ranked waaaay too high an unfair advantage if they lose their first game.Clemson is 9th but do you think they’re falling out or the top 25? Doubt it….but they got whacked by Duke a 13 point dog.You think Duke will be ranked ahead of them? Also doubt it.

that’s a very good point. i don’t think i’ve seen it called the other way in that situation.

i think the only explanation is that it was called targeting, not late hit… even though it was a late hit.
