Never seen that before. A roughing the passer late hit always results in 1st down for the offense even if it happens on 4th down or the pass gets picked off.

Wasn’t roughing the passer. The ref is saying the play was over when the QB started his slide. Since it was 4th down and short of the line to gain, Duke takes possession, so technically the PF/targeting was after the play and dead ball. Duke ball -15 yards.

Had that been 3rd down it would be Clemson ball +15 yards and a first down.
