We only had a dominant OL for one of our NC's. 83', 87', 89', 91' were all competent and disciplined, but I can only think of one OL stud who came from any of those and made noise in the league - Searcy.

Clemson’s line has been solid during their run

however, theiroffensive line this season is easily the best they’ve had.

Our lines in the 80s and 90s were decent - but I don't recall them being more than decent.

And I don't recall too many of those OL being in the NFL for long - Searcy was and was a really good one.

He's the only one who comes to mind.

The years around '01 were when we had our best lines - and the early Coker years with Winston and Carey on the OL.

"... average at best for a few years." They've been much better than average for a long time. Our DL didn't do much to Kelly Bryant when many was DC.

No, Clemson's line hasn't been great, just a coincidence they've been good enough to win two NCs, are playing for a 3rd and got to the playoffs in another.

This is some nobody predicting against the grain, looking for some pop; because this season, I don't think Clemson will fare as well against LSU's front 7. We'll see.

Thats kinda the point of the spread.. Smaller teams ran it to compete with big dawgs, You dont try to out muscle them with fullbacks and pound it up the middle, you spread them, use tempo and get best skill guys in space, Dabo figured that out early last decade and has rode that to better recruiting, big fat checks and beating those big dawg teams for championships
