Clemson game

Have to agree with brock to an extent. Did the Pitt game show that we have a ways to go to catch up with Pitt? No, of course not. Our qb was so bad he got benched. Couldn't hit a **** thing. An average qb makes at least two of the ten deep throws (instead of 0 for 10) and Miami wins the game easily. Wisconsin game - again QB sucked. How many "miracle" catches did Wisconsin get because the CB didn't turn his head? At least 3 should have been ints. CBs were exactly where they needed to be, and weren't beat/playing catchup. Cager also got robbed of a TD. I think Miami could easily have won that game, but had bad luck (maybe not turning head is more bad technique than bad luck, but crooked *** refs were just bad luck). So let's say we get 1-2 of those ints and the refs figure out that the little yellow flag can be tossed when the other team holds. Miami wins. We go into the refs off-season ranked #6 , Clemson is probably #4 . Two spot difference.

So how far are we REALLY from Clemson? It is virtually impossible to gauge from the ACC championship because this was an unusual year in terms of injury - I'm not talking depth, yes Clemson has far more - I mean healthy first team vs healthy first team. Are they 35 points better if we have Walton, Richards, and Herndon healthy? No, I don't think so. Maybe 20 points better? Ok, what if Perry had been an EE and won starting job. Accurate qb + offensive talent, I say Clemson is 10 points better. Is 10 points insurmountable? No, I think you easily close that gap with a lock down secondary (coming soon) , bigger bodies on OL (on their way), and a more explosive running back (also on way).

See how quickly the narrative returns to "We are just as good anyone"

News flash - we have a long way to go still

Stop with that bullsh*t talking like it’s that big of a gap between Miami and Clemson... look we got blown out in that game and the guys wasn’t ready for that moment but come on.... ncstate, Boston college and a few other teams played them closer than we did that championship game day. Do those teams have more talent than us? Fvck no..... we put our self in a hole early not capitalizing on early opportunities, malik being inacurate(missing a wide open Jeff) missing fumble recoveries , kicks and all. Either one of those change the outcome of the games. The margin of era of football is that small.

I don’t think we’re as close as u say, but we’re not supposed to be. We need a couple more recruiting cycles, and even more than that we need a qb. If perry turns out to be the guy, then that’ll be a big boost.

Crooked *** refs are not bad luck. It’s turning into a legit problem. May be our biggest obstacle when it’s all said and done.

Coming into the season we knew Clemson had more talent and depth and to beat them
- We could NOT lose ANY of our Big 3 Off weapons Walton, A Richards or Herndon..... we lost all 3
- One of the QBs would need to step up ..... did not happen
- He would need to win the TO game ....had a few chances early and it didnt happen

I think we are still a few years away and was really surprised we were actually in the top 5

We need 1-2 more classes to get to that level. We have nowhere near the quality depth.

People are just about instant gratification these days. I remember FSU getting drubbed by OU when they went and play them on the road. The biggest problem we have is our roster is out of alignment.....at key positions. OL/TE and QB and ad RB. There was no depth and any of those positions. None. We will be fine.

Clemson has out scored Miami 96-3 and we played them twice in 3 years. The **** you talking about. Both games were over by the 1st QTR.

Gap ain't that big. It's slightly bigger than the gap teeth in some yalls mouths so my dycks gots to fit.

We **** the bed to end the season. Rick might have made a mistake pointing to the Coastal as the goal all year because once we reached that goal, we packed it in.

Like my esteemed colleague brock stated, we did everything wrong that day, and they did everything right.

I guess the gap between Syracuse and Clemson is pretty big according to you pvssies too. Clemson has to make up a bunch of ground on Syracuse right?

I don't rag on you Brock but LOL. We have a FEW starters that are on par with them and no where NEAR the depth. It will take a couple years of recruiting like this class, especially with the DT situation

The game just didn’t start off right for Miami to compete properly. They aren’t 35 points better than Miami. Ncstate and Boston college are way less talented than both Miami and Clemson yet they didn’t have any problem competiting with them

So ridiculous to even try and make this argument. Sure, we all want it to be different, it just isn't right now.

Its about depth and consistency...not whether we could compete with them one game or not. Think they came into the BC or Syracuse game... or Pitt game last year with the same mindset as playing Miami in the ACC Championship? **** no. When it mattered, they stepped up and the depth difference was obvious.

You don't buy top 5 recruiting classes for years like Dabo has done..emulating Saban and Meyer..and not have an inherent advantage. Richt will likely catch up, but to act like we had a comparable 85 scholly squad with Clemp$on last year is pure fantasy.

A better QB makes it more competitive of a game, but a loss nonetheless that day. Attrition took its toll and it was going to after no bye week.

UM

Even with Clemson having all that depth and consistency they had less total offense against 'Bama than the Canes did against them. It happens.

I think next season we'll see where we are at pretty quick when LSU gets here. We will definitly know about our O-line and running game, because that front 7 is their bread and butter.

Agree with Brock. Obviously there's a gap but this notion that we need many years before we can hope to be on their level is being overly dramatic IMO.

2 recruiting classes and a QB. 2018, 2019. Then we are on equal footing with the elite again. 2 more years to legitimately have the talent to compete for a national title is not that big a gap considering where we've been for about 20 years.
