Lol. People so thirsty. They'll find anything at this point to justify a recruit. And when he doesn't pan out, the excuses will flow the other way.

At the end of the day, the Head Coach guides the evaluation philosophy of the program.

Richt has a long track record as an evaluator that includes a litany of NFL studs. He does not get enough credit for that.
Maybe. I am not persuaded and haven’t seen the case made. How has he done relative to peer sets, and average rankings, by position group. Getting a bunch of nfl players throuh UGA over 15 years doesn’t tell me a lot, personally. I don’t say that as a criticism of him - it’s simply a data question.

And I disagree that good evals are made based on a philosophy. There is a lot about philosophy that may be important to building a team and weeding out kids who don’t fit, but finding the qualities tht will make a kid an outperformer isnt a fomula, imo — it’s an eye. Butch had it. Whether Richt has it or not I don’t think is clear, personally.

Where I agree with you is Coker failed on the simple philosophy point. Country club, no culture, signed too many guys who weren’t competitors, ignored whole position groups for years. And also managed recruiting awfully. But points of failure and success criteria can differ. Shannon was scattered all over the place. No process, philosophy, some weird bugaboos, but not a bad eye for talent. Golden had a decent process, not sure he had any philosophy, and some of his position coaches had a decent eye for talent.

Yeah and when a 5* doesn't pan out whats your excuse? Y'all nutswing so much on opinions of these sites who most times barely know **** about some recruits until they dominate as seniors or get offers. Half of the ballers on this team were 3* but nobody says those sites were full of **** then but they're right with Blissett? Please ill trust my coaches first

I don't trust these coaches. They can't close on the big names so they're settling and hoping if they put strength, muscle and coaching on a guy; that will hopefully make up for 5* talent you are alluding to. Swing away friend.

Wait a second, Fuller is still being recruited. One of our sauces said he was a "locker room" problem, and "wouldn't be a fit."

The following was posted by Jason Blissett's dad on another board - I thought it was well worth sharing here:

Good morning men. As I read your comments and smile about your expectations of your new commit Jason Blissett jr I'm reaching out to you as a father Jason Blissett Sr to enlighten you on who you are getting. First of all your getting a great person in this young man who will represent the "U" the right way and will not embarrass the program. Secondly your getting a kid who has been around the game of football and played since seven years old. Jason Blissett jr is the son of a highschool football coach for the past ten years who has been technically sound at an early age. Moreover he's the son of a coach who has produced to pros ( Jayson Bromley Giants/saints) and ( Andrew king) 49ers. For what it's worth don't be fooled by the starts you are getting a DUDE!. This past summer at Duke University football camp he ran a sub 4.9 forty yard dash and is currently playing a skill position for his current team (Athlete). I myself played division one football at Temple University so he has a good understanding of the expectations of what it takes to play collegiately. I understand many of you may look down on new York football and for what reason I don't know but there is so much talent down here. I understand it's not like Florida and social media may have a hand in that in regards to stars and rankings but the talent is hear. As a dad I'm super excited about the U and look for to watching my son over the next few years #proudpop #joysoffatherhood #nycplaysfootballtoo!

Welcome to the U, Jason Blissett!!!

I would like to see some more big heavy DT's that push guards back or stack the middle. We are too finesse for me. At this point we can't miss on Ingraham.

Losing Kool was a big loss imo. Because you would count on him developing guys even if they are not highly rated but have raw tools. Jury will be out on Simpson.

Not impressed. To be fair, I haven't seen tape on the kid. Hope he pans out. New York football in general doesn't jump out at me.
NY football jumps out at me just a little more after I just finished watching Syracuse dismantle FSU on the replay. Granted, FSU is down, but Syracuse is better than I thought. I assume they got a lot of kids from NYS (and probably elsewhere).

We've been doing it for years. Going off coaches' evaluations instead of stars. Go by stars alone you miss Russ Maryland, Cortez Kennedy, Jimmie Jones, Greg Mark...

Depends on who does the evaluations and who ends up coaching them.

For the type of War Daddy types you want Miami has to get lucky and find one that is all about coming money because otherwise it is all about the bag game for those types since everyone wants them. 2* under the radar, 3* late bloomer, or 4* camp bully it doesn't matter they all get varying degrees of Bagman love. In 2018 we barely held onto Nesta and found Miller late in the game. In 2017 Ford was all Miami.

For 2019 we will have to work with converting SDE into 3 techs.

Go Canes

One of the better, if not best DTs in UM history was a NYS kid: Jim Burt. Now that was quite some time ago, but it's foolish to think there are no prospects at all from that big state. Blissett is one of the highest ranked kids in the entire state.

I still remember how that RB from NYS, Derrick Lassic, slashed us to ribbons for Alabama in that Sugar Bowl. And that was against the Bermuda Triangle.

His short shuttle for a guy his size is pretty ridiculous..
Big, coachable athlete that moves that well on the DL looks promising...

Considering this dude quickness of the line and measurements, couldn't he also play DE at the college level. Hes gonna need to add strength and as he adds strength he will naturally gain more weight without slowingdown, most likely becoming quicker. He could a more athletic demetrius jackson.

Dude is 6'40 270 and plays WR and RB as well as DT and DE.

Im sorry but there is some Athletes in NY especially in the City. They might not be the most technically sound but they are athletes nonetheless.
