CJ Bailey needs to come home

We should always be recruiting guys out of HS, but it also makes sense to bring in proven commodities.

For example, Lincoln Riley hit homeruns with the transfer QBs, then the offense took a step back with Spencer Rattler, who was a 5-star prospect.
Rattler just won the Saints QB job

UM has to develop its own QB's instead of using one year rentals. William, Nickel, Anderson and Coleman are in the room for 2026. Bringing another portal QB will mean 1-2 or even 3 QB's in the room may also portal. Same thing at center, UM Is on their 3rd rental center in a row. Need to start developing centers our their own OL room.
Why? Until we have a can't miss prospect then keep the best experienced portal QB money can buy coming.

Mateer looks pretty **** good tonight too.

I haven't been a fan of CJ Bailey's. To me even his success only comes against marginal competition. But I'd have to say he does seem to be developing at a level I personally didn't believe he had in him. That being said if he continues to develop he's only going to be willing to transfer to a place that gaurentees him a starting spot. That ain't us. With nickel and Coleman in the fold were not promising no one nothing.
If Cole is in the running to start next yr then.... something went horribly wrong during the off season.

It’s not that CJ Bailey is a can’t miss superstar. It’s that he was begging for a Miami offer and Shannon Dawson preferred Judd Anderson. We could have had him for free and now we’re going to have to throw a ton of money at him in the portal.
Lmao you're saying this as if he will be the best option or the only option.

For yall saying develop a qb n ****..yea that sounds great but some of yall are the same people that say get mario tf on if we don’t win whatever amount of games

The people who are seeing them every day are deciding they rather spend millions on a portal qb. Read between the lines, im sure if it was someone worth betting on they would but it clearly isn’t yet

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Anderson always felt like a Ponce/Cristobal guy more than anything else.

Anderson gets offered three weeks after Dawson gets the job and commits a month later. Dawson didn’t recruit him at Houston.

He is similar to Emory Williams and Mario’s, at the time, best qb in Herbert.

He really doesn’t seem like he fits the mold of a Dawson recruit: Nickel, Coleman, and the two he loved but didn’t land — Mac Jones & Stetson Bennett.

No I’m saying this as if we could have just signed him out of high school. Who would you rather have on your roster, CJ Bailey or Judd (not an FBs quarterback) Anderson?

If we want to start developing our own guys instead of relying on transfers, it has to start with recruiting guys who are actually capable of development.
