I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but Cigarette Racing has nothing to do with smokes.

It's a 70's and 80's thing and has an interesting history with some gaps through the years. It even had some drug lord activity racing them back in the day. It's an iconic name and they're working on a new offshore powerboat that is going to enter the luxury market.

Cigarette Boats was started by the late Don Aronow in 1969. He was an innovator in performance boating, building and racing many world champions. During the 1980's the cocaine cowboys started using offshore race boats to smuggle drugs because there was nothing the coast guard or police departments had that could keep up with them. Aronow was offered a contract by the government to build race boats that could catch the smugglers and that really set off a lot of the local dealers. He was selling race boats to smugglers on one day and then selling race boats to the cops to catch the smugglers the next. He ended up shot dead by a hitman hired by another local boat builder who was heavily involved in the "importing" business as well. Cigarette Powerboats remains in business today. Still building offshore powerboats but they also build large center console fishing boats too.

There's been a couple of documentaries on the old "Thunderboat Row" which was a stretch of NE 188 st in North Miami where all the powerboat builders had factories. There was even a fictional Hollywood movie about it too but it's kind of corny.
