Cigarette Racing sponsoring Miami Immortals 7 on 7 team

On Saturday, Cigarette Racing and CEO Alex Ruiz announced a partnership with the Miami Immortals during the team's tryouts at Miami St. Brendan Catholic. It is expected to be the first of its kind.

Aside from supporting the organization financially, Ruiz and Cigarette Racing are planning to film and produce a film series that follows the team throughout the 7-on-7 circuit and through the players senior seasons with hopes of highlighting and the talents and personal lives of those competing at the highest level of high school football as they balance life, football, and making the decision about where they will play at the next level. The Immortals have sent talent to Miami, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Auburn, Tulane, and other college football programs across the country.

Multiple prospects with Power 5 offers are expected to be on the roster this spring and summer. The group is headlined by Miami Gulliver Prep five-star wide receiver Jalen Brown, who claims offers from Miami, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon, Florida State, Auburn, Ole Miss, and multiple others.

Ruiz spoke with InsideTheU about the partnership and the impact he hopes to make through it.

"We think that it's a great way to give back to the community and help kids stay off the streets and be playing football," Ruiz said. "We think that 7-on-7 programs are great development programs and a great way for kids to be seen by different colleges and help them get to the next level and be the best. The idea is to create a platform for the kids that can be broadcasted throughout the country and reach as many hands as possible so that the kids can get promotion from the team. Also, we want the kids to be in the best of the best apparel, travel accommodations and be at the best events possible and we think that it's a great way to do it with Cigarette Racing. As CEO I think it was a great decision and we're very excited."

Rudy Trevino is the founder of the Miami Immortals and he is humbled by the opportunity Ruiz is providing.

"I'm highly appreciative to have the opportunity to actually bless some of the children from our inner-city Miami-Dade areas," Trevino said. "To have the Ruiz family welcome us with open arms to a lot of things they plan on doing for the program, it's going to benefit the kids in the long run. Just the environment change, being able to give the kids college tours. It's going to be a lot easier to get these kids across the nation to see different things. It's a blessing."

Jose Duasso, who is a key member of the organization's talent acquisition efforts, is also excited for the opportunity the Ruiz family is providing for his players.

"We're very fortunate for the Ruiz family here at the Miami Immortals. They're making it a mission to help the community and them getting involved in 7-on-7 is definitely one way to do that. We help keep kids off the streets with traveling and practice while helping them see colleges on these trips. They're going to help us achieve our goals and take it to the next level," Duasso said.

At the moment, the Immortals have plans to play in tournaments in Miami, Orlando, Las Vegas, and New Orleans over the next few months.

More Power 5 talents expected to be on the roster include Miami Killian Top247 athlete Robby Washington and his twin brother Bobby, a linebacker. Their teammate Stanquan Clark is a four-star linebacker who is drawing plenty of interest from schools across the country, including Miami. All three are expected to be at UM's 'Elite Prospect Day' on Jan. 22.

Homestead wide receiver Richard Dandridge, Miami Northwestern wide receiver Andy Jean, Miami Gulliver Prep defensive backs Daniel Harris and Antonio Smith, Miami Palmetto wide receiver Derrick Bohler, and Miami Northwestern running back Jamari Ford are others who have Power 5 bids.

Leading the team at quarterback is 2024 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas quarterback Tyler Aronson.

But some people thought it was all smoke and mirrors... All I have to say is for the haters to keep talking, while they keep doing... Just wait till Monday night.

The players may have some equipment costs, but the travel expenses are covered by fund-raising and whatnot. Some of us have donated money in the past to help cover those costs, but this sponsorship probably takes care of those expenses now.

Seriously though, this is YUGE!! I dont follow the 7 on 7 circuit so please educate me, who are the top teams in the area? I've heard of the Immortals and South Florida Express. Any others significant programs? Nothing that says Cigarette Racing couldnt sponsor more than one team, yes?

A Cigarette company sponsoring a athletic team..in the heart of Miami..I’m not even gunna bring up the R word component. It’s like 101 liquors sponsoring the local pee wee org😂..this is worse than Hennessy being the beverage sponsor of the NBA..and im all for it💰💵💸💴💶

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but Cigarette Racing has nothing to do with smokes.

It's a 70's and 80's thing and has an interesting history with some gaps through the years. It even had some drug lord activity racing them back in the day. It's an iconic name and they're working on a new offshore powerboat that is going to enter the luxury market.
