I call BS on that whole "Its Miami and want to restore to greatness" narrative re why coaches come. If they really believed that, they'd been knocking down the door in 2005 and every year since. Money talks and BS walks. I'm happy they're here -- Now go earn that $$ and get us in the ACC title game THIS year.

No coach means that, its a stock answer.. Even Cristobal with all his love for the school would not be here if they did not cut the check.. Its business, we have been a mom and pop shop and have not been serious about winning for a couple decades now.. These guys are competitive and want a chance to go somewhere, where they will have a chance to win big. To do that now you need admin to show commitment to program, that means $$$$$$$.

So all of the coaches that weren’t previously on Mario’s staff (Steele, Strong, Addae, Gattis, Smith, Ponce) that probably could have gone many other places, chose to come to Miami because of the $$$$$? Nah, I ain’t buying that. The money had some to do with it but there were certainly other factors that brought them to the U.

So much negetaviy on the board.
I think there’s a lot less these days hydro. I see a lot more excitement these days with Mario and the coaching staff he’s put together plus the financial support. Ignore all that noise and enjoy the positive things going on.

One thing I have to remind myself about the majority of the people on this board..is that they werent around or born yet when we had our golden era in the 80s and early 90s. Most started following in the early 2000s. Thats alot of losing to endure if you only had a chance to enjoy the 2000-2003 era of UM winning football and then 18 yrs of utter garbage.

They have been fooled too many times. I dont blame the caution and negativity that I see here at times.

I agree to an extent. I think the older guys can appreciate the nostalgia/legacy of Miami (Steele, Strong, etc). But for the young guys, it doesn't really mean a whole lot because they didn't really experience it imo. I think it has more to do with working for a good leader like Mario, who has integrity, has a vision and who is putting together a great staff. Guys are drawn to that kind of thing. Money helps but it's not the main reason.

I’ve been through 2 tough era’s - pre ‘83 and post 2000. Many new fans have no clue where we came from pre ‘83.
