Chris Whitehead 5* DE from Richmond VA

I thought he was in mid week for a couple days
Yeah i just seen that, thought he was a spring game guy.

I checked his page and he didn’t post anything about it. Given how active these kids are on social media, i think the fact he didn’t post any pictures from the visit speaks for itself. So yeah, prob didn’t make it down here

Our DE/Edge recruiting is really weird to me.

I guess they know Ghioto is re-classifying and figure they are going to go 1-2 with Bryant/Jacobs? Forstall gone, for the sake of this convo let's say you are correct and Whitehead is gone as well.

I guess still recruiting KJ Green? But no updates there for a while… Some of the other highly ranked kids, seemed like long shots anyway, Fields, M.Brown…Off the board.

The 2 or 3 kids from Alabama maybe (Garrer, Willis, no idea if Gordon is still interested)? Finley either locked up or high on the list as a backup.

But every other edge name @DMoney or anyone says is someone he expects to grow into a 3 Tech? Evans from Bama…Perkins before he committed, Lee from SW FL (already pushing 270).

I guess maybe Sean Fox is next in line?

Just trying to figure out the names here, especially if Lafayette from last year's class isn't an every down DE.

The plan seems to be to get he 2 reclass in Ghioto and johnson and then go all out for Jacobs and Bryant and hope to flip 1.

JMO. The staff likes what they have in-house and don’t wanna settle. Meisdor and Bain played a lot of snaps and they likely don’t wanna take a guy who will transfer out in 1-2 years when the older guys emerge. So it feels like a confirmation of confidence in their edge evals the last two years.

Finley did go to STA before transferring to CC. Taylor offered him a longtime ago and i do believe the staff feels really good about him.

We’ve flipped a ton of defensive linemen the last four years, including multiple edges; why should they doubt their abilities to do so again this cycle? They’re after Bryant and Jacobs in this regard.

Xavier Muhammad is an edge and our competition is TCU, Stanford, Michigan, Kentucky, Houston and Arizona State. They’re against auburn and UF for Marquis Evans, who is from Alabama.

Evans, Muhammad, Finley, Jacobs, Bryant, KJ Green. Green and Bryant appear to be longshots. The rest are getable. Land Finley, split Muhammad and Evans, and get Jacobs. That’d be first class.

I doubt they are counting on the reclassifications however if Asher G or Aden Johnson reclassify they’ll both be takes.

Green is trending to bama. He just recently visited them again

Lol… So there are no good edges out there?

Not sure if that offer was commitable? Haven't heard his name in a while.

OK but I would think there would be more, but maybe they know they have one of those two locked up?
Xavier Muhammad is an edge and our competition is TCU,

Most consider him a future DT…At the least he is a Blount combo type. Supposedly up to about 260 nowadays
Stanford, Michigan, Kentucky, Houston and Arizona State. They’re against auburn and UF for Marquis Evans, who is from Alabama.

DMoney has said multiple times he thinks Evans is a 3Tech…That's my point of this, there are names, just seems like most are future 3 techs?

I'd say Ghioto is a no brain take. Johnson I'm not sure about…You may be right he very well could be, but as @gogeta (A guy with a pretty good grasp on Dade kids, especially the northern Dade said, he doesn't think this is a kid who should be reclassifying.

Forstall, Fields, Whitehead, M.Brown…I'm not upset we didn't land any, but with what we just developed, a rock star DE coach, a pretty good (albeit not urgent need, but we landed only two last year, and one may be a one dimensional Jack type with size limitations), shouldn't we be makings one noise here outside of begging Jacobs and sticking with a long shot Bryant … I'm just wondering who the **** we are turning the heat up for that doesn't project better as a 3 Tech? Or I'm at least hopeful we know we have one of those big two in the bag? We didn't like Smith from STA…Showed brief interest in Rojas but passed. Maybe @DMoney can provide some insight, but he seems to be crickets on a few positions this year. Maybe Garror from Bama is high on the board?

I know a lot of these kids are just saying things to drive up their prices and field all offers…But it's just really weird to me that there wasn't a better effort made for Whitehead. Kid looks like an animal and he was drooling over UM back in jan/Feb when he scheduled that visit.

I agree that seems like may be way they're going … Just a weird risk to me. There are only 2 edges in the whole **** class of 27 worth going after?

Bruh you can be combative if you want to lmao. We just went to the natty we don’t need to be bring in a dozen defensive ends on OVs.

No point in going back n forth when you start with disrespect.

D$ has said this time and time again

A lot of talent is slated to return at DE in 2027, so the staff is more focused on quality than quantity. The names on top of the board are Jaiden Bryant (Columbia, SC) and DJ Jacobs (Atlanta, GA)

Watch the film. Muhammad is a DE. Muhammad is being used as a WR and TE on the first few plays as well. It’s like when people said Perkins was a DT and virtually every play he is standing rushing from the outside or hand in the ground at DE. We’ll see how they develop when they get here but the dudes aren’t playing inside in HS rn. Different guys will lineup in different fronts.

D$ said Finley was in person at 305 day and the staff liked what they saw. & he has an OV scheduled for the last weekend of May.

The Canes got an in-person look at local sack artist Trevoris Finley (Carol City) at 305 Day and liked what they saw.

The Canes are focused on elite players on the edge. Jaiden Bryant (Columbia, SC) might be the best player in America. He is committed to LSU but visiting the Canes on May 29th. Expect a full-court press. The Canes remain all-in on DJ Jacobs (Atlanta, GA). The staff also likes Trevoris Finley (Carol City) and 6'5, 220-pound Adriel Rojas (Atlanta).

Imagine thinking the staff tankin when they moving militant in recruiting. Couldn’t be me.

I don't expect this class to be as large as last year. It may be closer to 20 players than 30. The staff wants more natural attrition than forced roster movement, and they trusts their evaluations of the players already on the roster. The early returns on the 2027 class look strong.

Jackson Vaughn, Aden Johnson, and Asher G are all potential reclassifications as well.

What in the living he ll are you talking about being combatitve?

As for the rest of this

Perkins- Well basically he went to VT because we saw him as a 3T. Bad example.
Rojas- UM/Rojas hasn't been mentioned, in a good while made a top 5 or 7 or whatever it was a good while ago and we weren't on it.
Finley- I know exactly what DMoney said. We'll see, it wouldn't be the first time we like a local and put them on the back burner. I believe we are recruiting him, I'm just not sure where he is on the board. Could see him being in this class
Muhammed- 260 and growing, I don't think it's out of the realm he stays at end… But that is a big frame, and there's a reason Lindend lists him as DE/DT, and he is listed on other sites as a DL
Evans- I noticed you left him out after you originally included him, likely because when you went through these Banks you saw that DMoney mentioned him as a DT too.

"Move militant" and all that, ya I love our recruiting too though, just discussing… Not panicking. Just saying edge recruiting is a bit of a mystery right now outside of the big two names and MAYBE Finley. I agree with the poster above (And you mentioned it as well) that they are probably all in on 1 or 2 of the possible re-class guys.
