Chicago Canes

Haha, just ******* with you man. You know being a fellow Chicagoan we gotta keep that Cubs/Sox hate real. I do agree that we have had the worst collection of sports owners for the last 35 years.
Worked at the Stadium Club at Sox Park in college a few years ago and was working Reinsdorfs table. Dude is a prick and a half. I’m not even a cubs or Sox fan.

If I was still that young hot head, I would have jumped this post. Talking about my town without ever being born or raised there !! But as far as a review goes, this is pretty well balanced.

I agree with you on the taxes, expense, traffic and parking, it can aggravating to say the least. What I have learned is that Chicago can be a tough town to adjust to coming from somewhere else. Native born Chicagoans know their town can be messed up, but we still can help ourselves to love it all the same.
It's all good bro. We make the best of life wherever we are. I appreciate and respect what you said. When I lived there, I focused on the good and the people are solid there. Chicagoans love their city and it is worth fighting for. Right now is the best time of year in Chicago. Place comes alive and people really pack life into each Summer. Enjoy!

Hands down bro. Hate to say this, but if it wasn't for old man Bill Wirtz not passing away, The Blackhawks would still be in purgatory. Thank God Rocky had a different vision for the franchise. Old lady McCaskey finally gave up control and her son have taken Da Bears in a different direction. If Ricketts didn't buy the Cubs from The Tribune, God knows where they would still be.

Maybe that's y I'm so tolerable of Miami, b/c I've been through the ringer w/ The Chi Sports teams. lol.

Heard the same thing. One of my relatives is one of the attorneys for the NBAPA. He's from Chicago. He said Reinsdork is even worst than you can ever imagine, and he tries to stay neutral being a Bulls fan while working w/ the NBA, but he wants to choke him out every time he sees him. lol. Complete douche.

Lived in So Florida many years (Gables, Lauderdale, Boca, Delray) and more recently Chicago (Lincoln Park- "The City") for about 10 years. I'm one of those people who is not a fan of Chicago (or quite frankly any big city in the NE or MWest). Yes, it has good things, but in my opinion, the negatives clearly outweighed the positives. Once I had the luxury of being able to choose where to live and work, I got the H out of Chicago. The weather sucks - unless you like wearing winter clothing from Oct through May (best case). Traffic sucks even in the non-winter months. Once winter hits, you're f'cked. Taxes (property, sales and income) are ridiculous and only going to get much worse. Cost of living is very high and quality of life is poor in my opinion. Getting around and finding parking, etc., was usually a f'king nightmare. Crime was quickly moving into even the nicest (and once "relatively safe") areas. The rats the size of cats are cool Yes, it has a nice lakefront, beautiful buildings (lol) and very good restaurants. It also has distinct and vibrant neighborhoods (Bucktown, Old Town, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, etc., etc.) - but the sh*t that comes with that sandwich makes it not worth it. The northern burbs typically avoid the crime and the hassles of living in the City, but the ridiculous cost will bite you hard. I have friends who still live there and some will put a good face on it and say how much they love it - I suspect those are the poor souls who can't get the H out because of work, family and circumstances. Must be fun to pay $20K plus a year minimum to get a kid into kindergarten (yes, frickin K). If they don't get in at that stage, forget about getting in later. If you have a choice, just say no. If you're single, it isn't as bad because of the obvious reasons. Raising a family there? F no. I didn't mean to offend anyone, just wanted to give my honest opinion.

So then..which place/city is better in your opinion? Where would you choose if you could live anywhere?

I work up here as a truck driver. Mainly work in Joliet, Northlake, Aurora, Cicero, and Willow Springs.

...and no, I wouldn't live up here permenantly, lol. Hopefully taking a job working for Walmart in the fall in Georgia.

Bro, what you expect man? I grew up right down the street from these boys and back in the day, my people didn't really travel 9 miles north. White Sox are my team, although we ALL need the Reinsdork family to bounce out of Chicago and sell the Bulls and the Whitesox. Horribly, HORRIBLY ran organizations under his watch. Bulls wins titles, ***** MJ and Phil. White Sox win a title, ***** Ozzie. I can't stand him or his bytch *** son.
I can’t wait til that cheap *** mother ****** dies. I will pop some champagnes

My favorite city in the world, heavily considering moving up there in the next year or two. Anyone on here spend time living in the city there and in Miami and have an opinion?

I've lived in Chicago my whole life. Favorite city in the World between May and October. Winters can be brutal.

Live 20-25 minutes south of downtown Chicago and been to south Florida many times. Chicago is expensive depending on where you live. South suburbs is the way to go. Great city tho. Considering moving downtown for a year or two before I have kids.
Imagine calling Chicago a great city... you must love taxes, frozen tundras, and a failing corrupt state and local gov. There are some cool people of course, and UChicagos Econ department has a great legacy, but the city as a whole... wack

Haha, yeah if old man wirtz were still alive he would be standing on top of the United Center banging on the satellite antenna with a hammer, saying **** this cable/streaming ****, i want my games pay per view only.

Ahhh, and your ***** *** shows up. The only thing you know about Chicago is what you have seen on the television. Wanna know how I know that??? The only thing you call cool in chicago is a school whose population, identity, and reputation are not anywhere close to being remotely representative of the city it's located in.

Man, I've lived and worked/commuted in lot of places and that's a tough question to answer because so much depends on your age, your station in life and your personal preferences. I've lived in some of the larger cities which I enjoyed a lot more when I was younger. Today, my preferences are good weather, I prefer mild seasons (I like the change), don't like big city congestion (been there, done that). I like areas where taxes and cost of living are reasonable, but where there's enough to do (entertainment, outdoor activities, near water and good food). If I have that, I'm good. Fav places to live were San Diego and Orange Co., CA - but that was years ago before people lost their effen minds. It was Paradise years ago. Today, no thanks (unless someone else is paying). Good luck finding your paradise bro. If it's So Fla or Chicago, I'm going with the warmth. Suffered through too many winters.
