Any Canes fans in the Chicago area? Figured I’d keep it up with people creating threads asking if there’s any Canes in their respected areas.
Live 20-25 minutes south of downtown Chicago and been to south Florida many times. Chicago is expensive depending on where you live. South suburbs is the way to go. Great city tho. Considering moving downtown for a year or two before I have kids.My favorite city in the world, heavily considering moving up there in the next year or two. Anyone on here spend time living in the city there and in Miami and have an opinion?
I thought you were “born & raised, born & raised “ in Compton?Ya'll already know, lived in Cali for a min, but Da Windy City will always be home and my claim.

Red team - is that like Bloods??? I saw Colors and Blood In Blood Out.No sir....from the South Side of Chicago originally....moved to Cali (Inglewood) at age of 5, then moved and lived majority of life w/ the red team in Compton. Most of my mom's side of the family is still in Chicago, too. Y u think I'm a Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, Whitesox, Fire fan? lol.
@Rellyrell, just tell people you’re from Chicago and kept a winter home in Compton.

If I was still that young hot head, I would have jumped this post. Talking about my town without ever being born or raised there !! But as far as a review goes, this is pretty well balanced.Lived in So Florida many years (Gables, Lauderdale, Boca, Delray) and more recently Chicago (Lincoln Park- "The City") for about 10 years. I'm one of those people who is not a fan of Chicago (or quite frankly any big city in the NE or MWest). Yes, it has good things, but in my opinion, the negatives clearly outweighed the positives. Once I had the luxury of being able to choose where to live and work, I got the H out of Chicago. The weather sucks - unless you like wearing winter clothing from Oct through May (best case). Traffic sucks even in the non-winter months. Once winter hits, you're f'cked. Taxes (property, sales and income) are ridiculous and only going to get much worse. Cost of living is very high and quality of life is poor in my opinion. Getting around and finding parking, etc., was usually a f'king nightmare. Crime was quickly moving into even the nicest (and once "relatively safe") areas. The rats the size of cats are cool Yes, it has a nice lakefront, beautiful buildings (lol) and very good restaurants. It also has distinct and vibrant neighborhoods (Bucktown, Old Town, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, etc., etc.) - but the sh*t that comes with that sandwich makes it not worth it. The northern burbs typically avoid the crime and the hassles of living in the City, but the ridiculous cost will bite you hard. I have friends who still live there and some will put a good face on it and say how much they love it - I suspect those are the poor souls who can't get the H out because of work, family and circumstances. Must be fun to pay $20K plus a year minimum to get a kid into kindergarten (yes, frickin K). If they don't get in at that stage, forget about getting in later. If you have a choice, just say no. If you're single, it isn't as bad because of the obvious reasons. Raising a family there? F no. I didn't mean to offend anyone, just wanted to give my honest opinion.
Haha, just ******* with you man. You know being a fellow Chicagoan we gotta keep that Cubs/Sox hate real. I do agree that we have had the worst collection of sports owners for the last 35 years.Bro, what you expect man? I grew up right down the street from these boys and back in the day, my people didn't really travel 9 miles north. White Sox are my team, although we ALL need the Reinsdork family to bounce out of Chicago and sell the Bulls and the Whitesox. Horribly, HORRIBLY ran organizations under his watch. Bulls wins titles, ***** MJ and Phil. White Sox win a title, ***** Ozzie. I can't stand him or his bytch *** son.
