On Monday, Miami Hurricanes backup running back CharMar Brown spoke with the media. Here is everything he had to say following another fall camp practice.
On the first week of fall camp: Competition's high. We're pushing each other and making each other better.
On his leadership role: I feel like I'm not as a vocal leader, but I come in and try to be consistent every day in terms of my process and leading the younger guys and making sure they're doing the right things. And being that older guy they can always come and talk to, Girard, Mallory, everybody.
On changing his body this off-season: Trust in Coach Ervin and his staff and just being better on my treatment, stuff like that.
On what he learned about himself last season: I learned just to be patient and just be consistent, be ready when your name is called.
On being part of a deep running back room: It's awesome because we keep each other on the toes and when it's time to get in, I feel like I'm ready.
On what stands out about Mark Fletcher: Leadership. That stands out a lot, and his confidence.
On the biggest adjustment he’s had to make: Just being ready. Just being confident and being ready.
On Javion Mallory: He's smooth, he's patient, he's just a great kid. Like, he's competitive, he's calm, he's poised. He's everything you want as a running back, power, speed, everything.
On the offensive line: I feel like it's about the same. I feel like Coach Mirabal's doing a pretty good job getting everyone in line. Everybody's running off the ball pretty well. Can't complain.
On Jordan Lyle: I've seen him get back to the regular self again. I feel like he's explosive, fast, like, everything you want as an RB.
On Darian Mensah: He's a general. Like, he makes sure everything's in line, and he's gonna make sure everything's straight.
