Texas didn't have one player drafted in the NFL draft last season. The Canes after Golden's first year had 6 players. Mack Brown let that program go way down the crapper. It's easy to simply look at the record and state Charlie Strong is crap, even though he did great at Louisville (outside of Teddy, that defense was pretty elite).
The offenses Strong faced while at Louisville were far inferior to the up-tempo spreads from the Big XII that are running a train on his Texas defenses on a weekly basis. Not to mention that Strong's Louisville defense gave up 34 vs. UNC, 35 vs. Pittsburgh, 31 vs. Cincinnati, and 36 vs. Syracuse during their 11-2 season in 2012.
Also haven't seen a single person bash Strong while solely focusing on his abysmal W-L record.
- Total offense and total defense ranked in the 90s
- Retained traditional pro-style West Coast OC to install up-tempo spread, even though he had no experience running that type of offense
- Scapegoated OC one game into the season
- Shutout by Iowa State
- Giving up 37.5 PPG in losses
- The above number will balloon over 40 when Texas Tech and Baylor get done with them
- Current recruiting class ranking in Year 2: 50th
The "bad fit" talk is nonsense. People called Golden a bit fit at Miami, too.
