Who in there right mind gives up 5m a year for 2.5 to come Miami. He has no ties down here. And the only reason he is in the position he is in now. Because he raided our boys down here. When butch gets back Charlie goose will be cooked

Miami is paying more than 2.5 million this time..

Why didn't you say so before ?!? Kidding. You're right. He's probably just using it as leverage for a contract extension at UT.

Good. I don't like the idea of taking someone failing at Texas. He is failing failing, not Mark Richt or Les Miles failing. Flat on his *** failing.

Did anyone actually think he was going to come here without having been fired first...? And by NO means will he have any leverage for an extension at this point, so I hope you were also kidding with that comment.

Are you sure about this?

Golden was making more than $2.5 million (probably much closer to $3 million) when he was canned. Assuming they hire someone with a better resume than "won a few games at Temple," why wouldn't they pay the better qualified person more than they paid Golden?

This board cracks me up. 95% of what is posted is either total garbage or is based on incorrect facts. Do you really think we would offer Strong 2.5M?

Yes, He has ties here.... His bagman at UL, Clint Hurt has green bagged enough high school coaches and players reps here in SFL.

If you want to know Charlie's secret sauce at UL, look no further than Mr Hurt.

Miami administration is all hype they have a budget and there sticking to it. They can't a coach top dollar and a good coaching staff

I live in TX and have connections to folks in the know at UT. He has one more year to turn things around. Charlie is not getting fired unless he loses the last two games Clemson style.

The Cane Nation will be rooting for Texas the next 2 weeks.

You live in fantasy land. Miami will pony up $4m+ fir atop coach. They just paid a huge buyout for crying out loud. Besides, strong might not have a choice if he gets fired lol

If He gets fired without cause, that's as high as we can go. According to USA Today:

If Strong is fired without cause, Texas will owe him an amount equal to total pay remaining on the contract, subject to Strong's obligation to offset up to half of that amount with income from subsequent employment. So, if Texas were fire Strong after one season, it would owe him $21 million, up to half of which could be offset.

Texas to pay $9.375 million for Charlie Strong in 2014

No. It means that if he is fired we or anyone else pays him more than $2.5 million dude is getting a pay raise. Charlie Strong would be better off financially getting fired and then getting a new job that pays him more than $2.5 million per season.

I'm surprised this isn't mentioned more often.

It will be now. And I have emailed Blake about this. Strong used the man who got us on probation to recruit SFl. Sounds like a recipe for more trouble at Miami.
