Chantz Williams article

We’ve been so focused on the class of 21, that we forget we snagged some gems from the class of 2020, like Chantz. Hopefully he balls and we start having a revolving door of 1st round picks from this position
He has a sick 40 for a dude his size and at that position and we don’t even mention him.

Chantz reminds me of AQ..would’ve loved to see that man coming off the edge in this D

Agree; a lot of fans get immediately get caught up in the “who’s next” syndrome. But this kid is a baller!

@Liberty City El Hope you’re wrong about this cat dude! Crazy physical tools and seems to be like hard worker. 🤷🏻‍♂️
My take was that he's going to need a redshirt his Freshman year because he's not physically ready to play & has to get stronger functional strength in his upper body due to his struggles against bigger more stout OL's.

I never said he wasn't good.

yep! The 20 class has close to a dozen guys that could be future All-ACC guys!
Tae, Chantz, Chaney, Knighton, Rivers, Redding, TVD, Roberts, Cave, Harrell, Restrepo, and Walker. That isn't including Keyshawn Smith and Marcus Clarke who I think could grow into monsters as well.

I thought it was for sure he was gonna RS anyway. Way too many good DE’s this year to burn his shirt

Agree... with a top rotating four of GR, Phillips, Roche, and Harvey, have Williams or Blisset as the rotating 5th DE, let Chantz get his burn in 4 games on passing downs and give him a shirt. It be dumb, barring injury, to burn his shirt to give us a few snaps a game.

Long edge prospect with lean, athletic build. Pure pass rusher with explosive first step and developed technique. Can beat blocker with speed or strong pound-for-pound force. Powerful lower-half with great wingspan. Aware on the edge and can play the football if initial rush is unsuccessful. Redirects well and pursues with great motor. Can navigate tight spaces and play through the wash. Runs well and tests well. Stand-up ability with considerable experience with his hand in the dirt as well. Good lateral mover. Once focused solely on football should fill out well at high-end Power Five program and see snaps sooner rather than later. In the day and age of spread offenses and pass-first programs he could become key cog in elite defense and spur it into pro career thereafter.

Athletic Background
Three-sport standout who owned high school hoops team’s all-time shot-blocking record before conclusion of junior season.

This catches my attention, this guy will give QBs nightmares because it tells a lot about his hand-eye coordination. He’ll bat down or tip up a lot of passes for us that can potentially lead to big plays. When you block a ball in basketball you have to have great timing and able to read someone’s arm direction. Love it #GoCanes
