CFP system. why not 8 teams just this year.

Id like to see it just for this year to see how it works out. This season has been such a cluster fck and I feel like teams like BYU and Cincinnati should get rewarded for not being pussies like a few other conferences. I mean how bad is it going to suck if we win out and are sitting around 5-8 in the country and were pumped in with a few other teams with 1 loss. If that were to happen how ****ed would you guys be if Ohio stank gets in to the play off with only playing a handful of games. They dont deserve to be in the playoff no matter how they end up.

I know some of you guys dont like a play off system like I suggested but ****t id really like it to be a 16 team play off system but id take 8 for now.

I believe one of the reasons is the money gets split into smaller parts. The total pot won't get bigger.

This year will be interesting as it is. California - Rose Bowl - may become an issue as a site. Cali is tightening up everywhere right now.

Biggest thing about the 8 team playoff more than even getting 8 teams in is all the money the extra they’d make from the extra games money all these schools could use this year...
 
The CFB playoff should be 6 teams. We were sold it saying the at large group of 5 team would now get in and has yet to do so lol
 
I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if they changed the format somehow this year.

They need to do something to increase revenues. College football has taken a bath this year.

Yea 1-2 get byes and then 3-6 play. Why not give the #1-2 teams a benefit to being that highly ranked can do 5 power conference winners and the best group of 5 team of undefeated. I just think 8 would be too many teams
 
They are most likely better then the other teams so why give them an extra advantage. Play it on the field and let the chips fall as they may, I hate it that the NFL gives teams a bye.

Or if Bama loses to UF in the SEC title game....but that's not going to happen, we all know better. even if they lost, they'd bump Notre Dame if they lost to Clemson in ACC title...which would create another uproar. I agree with OP...Power 5 champs plus 3 at large and call it a day. PLZ PLZ PLZ put in the Cincy and BYU teams so they can have their shot on national tv to show what they've got.

Agreed. If there were ever a time to try it out, this is the year to do it. ****, ND is full time ACC and eligibility don’t even count this year. I thought playoff expansion would be more likely than those two events yet here we are.

Word... baseball put half the league in the playoffs like hockey does... a one time 8-team playoff would be a nice change up for a messed up year
 
IMHO the NCAA is leaving money on the table by not doing a 16 team playoff. Sweeten the pot by giving the top 8 seeds the first game at home. 4 weeks of playoff football. None of the **** bowls matter anymore anyway outside of 5 or 6, and use them for the final 4 and final.
 
Ncaa football is the only sport where you can go undEfeated and have zero shot at the big prize. Fvck a conference championship.

In any normal sport, a division/ conference title is an automatic playoff spot. Not in the corrupt world of college football.

16 teams. 11 conference champions and 5 at large. Start the playoffs the week after conference championships. Keep ALL OF THE BOWLS. Either incorporate them into playoff rounds or fill them with playoff losers to play in late Dec/Jan.

Otherwise, make g5 its own division with its own championship. Expand p5 to eight teams with 3 at large.

College football gets even bigger.
