CFP moving to 24 teams

Doubling the playoff spots and increasing total playoff games from 11 games to 23 games (>double) for ONLY a 26% increase in revenue from ESPN - $1.3B/yr to $1.645B... and technically all it ACTUALLY does is take away conferences control of conference championship week and hands it to ESPN. Technically the conferences TODAY could announce a champions and choose the 2nd-4th best to compete in their "champ week" game and try to let one of them earn/solidify their CFP spot.... So yeah not a lot of sense being made

However I'll just continue to say Conference Realignment is THE critical need here. This setup at 24 teams is ****ed BECAUSE there are two "elite" conferences, two mediocre conferences, then everyone else (G6) with extremely unequal quality of scheduling and conference strength. If you move to like 7-8 smaller divisions totalling 56-72teams, you can make the 24 team playoff make a lot more sense. Like just simple match could be 8 divisions that are equally strength and regional with protected rivalries in CFP competition, top 2 per division get playoff spots and 8 more "at-large" like you can make this far better
It’s not even about conference “strength”. They just choose who the top conferences are and these so called elite conferences get to avoid playing anyone outside their elite conferences. A very fine Ponzi scheme.

That’s true BYU **** the bed. But both their losses were to a contender in Tech. If they would have made the game close they would have had a legit gripe. OU was just playing plain bad football at the end of the year.

The new 24-team playoff was my red line with being a lifetime fan of college football. The people who made the decision know everyone will support it and watch, so they have nothing to lose. Not me!

1. I used to take nation signing day off! Watch ESPN all day. Wait for the Canes segments. Read updates of Canesinsight. It meant something what our signing classes were. Watch what everybody else's classes were going to be. It doesn't really mean anything now. In less than a year they can just move on. We can bring other guys in. It's not as meaningful any more. I liked watching Cam Ward and seeing him go #1. But he was here in January, gone in December. Was he really a Cane? I love seeing guys like Bain, Mesidor, and Okunlola go to the league. But they are a different category of player for me. I know them. They have removed much of the excitement of NSD!

2. They have removed ALL hitting and defense from the game. Everything is targeting now! They have nudered that whole side of the team. Look at the Barrow on Tamarick Vanover hit. "The hit", Miami Hurricanes football lore, in every hype video on the planet! Today Barrow would have been suspended for two games! Well, it would have been that game starting THIS year. Can't we have a 3-0 game every once in awhile?

3. It's not stopping at 24 teams. In a few years it will increase to 30. "There are a couple of 7-5 that were left out last year."

4. The "opting out" of bowl games has maddend me for years! It has made bowl season a joke. 98% of college football players will never go to the NFL. So the bowl game is the last meaningful game of football those guys will EVER play in. They have played their entire lives too! Good enough to play in college, but not blessed with NFL talent. For the opt-outs to disrespect that game for them is cowardice. "Oh I'll go to war for my brothers! But not play in not play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl because I'm going in the 6th round to the Eagles."

5. No spring games. I loved going to the spring game! You could get pictures and autographs of the players. They would bring some trophies you could see - like Torretta's Heisman. It was all free. It was a fun day to look forward to before the season. Also watch other teams spring games just to watch some college football! I know you were watching general plays with everyone, but it was something fun. No more. Someone might see a good player and steal him, so no more of that.

They have taken everything I love about the game out. Or if it's there, they nerfed it. Watering down the urgency of regular season is it for me. I'm finishing this season, and I'm done

I mean we should be a practical lock in a 12 team anyway. If we stay good, we shouldn’t be losing two ACC games as long as FSU stays down. This isn’t good logic at all.
I never said we fkn need a 24 team playoff. I don’t want it. I think you misunderstood me. I’m just saying we have an advantage of playing a weak schedule in that scenario.
