CFP moving to 24 teams

Yall remember how hard they fought the playoff implementation? Then they seen how much money each game brings in, now they want a 64 team playoff. These people are vultures just like they are in every sector of society that has something to do with money. The playoffs didn't need to go to anything past 12. Simply get rid of the autobids, 12 best teams. If 9-3 teams get left out. Too bad.

Unless you're on the mope squad, increasing from 4 to 12 team CFP just gave you the most joy from watching Miami in over 20 years. I don't mean this guarantees everything is roses with 24, but it's not fair to say increasing to 24 automatically ruins the sport.
Thank you. People are myopic and get too caught up in their own emotions/limited vision.

Here is the final AP top 25 from last year (bowl/cfp wins and losses included). I would have zero problems with a 24-team field looking something like this:

  • Indiana - 16-0
  • Miami – 13-3
  • Ole Miss – 13-3
  • Oregon – 13-2
  • Ohio State – 12-2
  • Georgia 12-2
  • Texas Tech – 12-2
  • Texas A&M – 11-2
  • Alabama – 11-4
  • Notre Dame – 10-2
  • BYU – 12-2
  • Texas – 10-3
  • OU – 10-3
  • Utah – 11-2
  • Vandy – 10-3
  • Virginia – 11-3
  • Iowa – 9-4
  • Tulane – 11-3
  • James Madison – 12-2
  • USC – 9-4
  • Michigan – 9-4
  • Houston – 10-3
  • Navy – 11-2
  • North Texas – 11-2
  • TCU – 9-4
“If ThE PlAyOfF eXpAnDs tO 24 tEaMs, tHeN We’Re GoInG tO SeE 8-4 tEaMs GeT iN”

SO THE F**K WHAT! Pretty much every other sport has championship teams with multiple losses. It doesn't take jack sh*t away from their title. If a 9-3/8-4 team gets in and ends up winning the whole thing then they earned it.

Bruh what are they going to expand it to next? Autobids for the entire SEC, BIG, ND, and the Cleveland Browns? 24 is already a farce
I know this is meant to be satirical, but prob not far off. Probably 8 guaranteed spots for SEC and B1G with smaller allotments for the ACC and Big 12. Maybe 2 or 3 each. So let’s say it’s 16 + 6 + ND + G5 auto. The remaining 8 are at large or maybe they throw the G5 a bone and guarantee conf champs a spot like hoops and go with that. But I’m not betting against it. This is all a money grab

Again I axe:

If the Canes go independent, what's to keep the Disney-controlled AP voters from keeping Miami out of the playoff? Could we see an 11-1 Canes team be left out? Can we see a 12-0 Canes team be a #9 seed (so no bye week)?

Bowl season was one of the best things about college football pre-playoff. The playoff made all of the other bowls irrelevant. The 24 team adds 8 games between teams 9-24, essentially bringing back bowl season. I like it.
That is an optimistic way of looking at it.

There’s more meaningful games in December which is a good thing.

Did anything happen with this format? With so much going on wasn't sure if I missed it
Nope, no new substantial updates. Only this from a couple days ago which is a nothingburger

"First of all, nothing has been done yet with the College Football Playoff. It's only speculation," he said Tuesday at Big 12 media day. "Nothing is final, so I don't want to get too much into the details there, but tentpole events, for us, matter. Our championship game has been very valuable. Our basketball tournament, both men's and women's, has been very valuable. And if there is a point in time where a change is made, we will look to backstop those events with other events. We're in the event business. It drives a lot of fan engagement and excitement, so we'll see what happens in the future, but those are big moments for us. And if for some reason, if one goes away, we'll replace it with something different."

Lmao of course, and there’s a good chance they’ll go in the tank the rest of the year and have a mass exodus and won’t even be that good next year
Best in the biz at scheduling lmao; i still laugh at them scheduling Nebraska for AFTER Trae Taylor leaves (2032 & 2033).
