We know CFB needs ratings/eyeballs on all playoff games to generate more TV dollars.

Do you think the feel good story that is Malachi Toney would be an easy sell to fringe viewers?

True reclassified freshman that just turned 18, catches EVERYTHING, rushes for TD’s and THOWS passes.

Let’s not forget he returns punts.

Understanding the entire playoff system is made for TV and generating $, I have to believe GABOS gives a a bit of an advantage over others.

Wishful thinking?

Just
Depends
But the ACC is the ugly stepchild of college football. As far as the conference commissioners are concerned they won as little to do with ACC teams as possible.

What about Pavia and Vandy?????

No, but you’d be right if you posted the same about Manning and Texas. They are salivating over the idea of Manning lighting up A&M.
💯
They win that game the media will be discussing how they should potentially be in the playoffs with three losses!!!!

I’m telling you right now everybody better be **** ready for Michigan to be pumped into the top 10 if they beat Ohio State don’t think that won’t be a top discussion

I've thought this but it didn't matter last year when we had the #1 offense and future #1 overall draft pick lighting up the scoreboard so I doubt it would move the needle this year either. Miami/Vandy/Utah, sure we draw more eyes. But not when it comes down to Miami/Bama/ND

Well, that should help us seeing as we lead the ACC in ratings and are one of the top ratings producers in college football.

The story is Beck playing Georgia in Athens or Mario playing Oregon in Autzen. The rating for either game would be the top of the weekend by a gigantic multiple.
I live in GA, Beck going to Athens would essentially shut the state down. The sheer number of comments I get from GA fans when I’m wearing Miami stuff purely about Beck is staggering. I would guarantee that game would have the best ratings of an opening round game.

It wouldn’t be close. That’s an A+ TELEVISION story that is a worthy matchup given our performance this year. Such an easy move for them.

Th problem we have is who are they going to knock out of the top 10? ND is already in. It’s either Bama or OU that have to lose. And I don’t see it. But crazier things have happened. But the idea of us bumping either of those two without a loss just because of ratings is no bueno.

Washington BIG over Oregon might help
OU losing to LSU would be great
Bama losing to Auburn

One or more need to happen

PLUS Miami win big and OSU beat
michigan

Bama lost to lowly FSU, no idea why they ranked where they are

They beat Georgia away. That’s a huge win that overcomes that loss. That’s their rationale anyway. When we lost our second game we went all the way down to 18 in the AP. When Bama lost their second game they stayed in top 10. Why? Because they weren’t preventing Bama from missing the playoffs again.

if Bama loses by 15-20 in the SEC championship, does the committee drop them?
Like I get the not penalizing a team for conference championship losses. Like it makes sense not to penalize Bama for losing in a game we couldn’t qualify for in our conference. Same with BYU. Like that makes obvious logical sense to me.

Odds are though you’re playing a CFP team. Losing handily to a CFP team should factor into the equation. A “good loss” has to be contextualized. As much as I hate ND, I think they aren’t the same team from their first two games. But if the last memory of Bama and BYU is getting hammered by a CFP participant, why add them? You could point to SMU last season but that was a close loss. If they lose on a last second thing I could understand the argument. But a clear and obvious loss, you have to drop them. Or scrap the conference title games.
