CFB Analytics Thread 2026-27

This hopefully was our worst game of the season and we squeaked it out. Here’s to a cleaner game from Mensah and the pass defense from here on out.
In a day when 5 of the top 10 go down and number 1 went down 2 weeks in a row to unranked rivals at home or neutral site we should be happy with a win in any capacity.

Doesn't mean we can't have concern going forward with things that need cleaned up but I hope the bold is what the deal is.

Indiana had this game against Penn State last year and it took the catch of the year with 30 seconds left tip toeing the back of the endzone to win it. Not to mention it was 10 plays and 80 yards in 1 min 15 seconds to pull it off. Even the 2001 team had 2 of these kinds of games.

People also forget the 2001 immortal team had issues vs. BC and VTech.

See the last sentence in my post lol

I will say though... VT and BC were top 20 teams to end the year. Or in the 20s but both were ranked and good teams that FSU is not.

The closer comparison is Indiana - Penn State in 2025

Or OSU/Nebraska 2024 (and Michigan..), UGA/Mizzou ‘22 etc. you just don’t want many of these. Close games against top-25ish teams are a different story as you pointed out.
