Central WR Darnell Salomon has Miami on top, Lol

So all the other schools passing is the only reason why a recruit from Miami Central would be interested in Miami....

Okay

Read up on this kid's recruitment. Look at his quote about Miami from earlier this year in my post above this one. Then compare the schools he viewed as his frontrunners as recently as a couple months ago to today.

Salomon's Top 5 at The Opening in July: Alabama (they were recruiting him the hardest at this point), LSU, FSU, Oklahoma, and Texas

The schools to which he plans to take OVs: Miami, NC State, Louisville, South Florida

It's clear as day what's going on with his recruitment after his off-field incident, horrible outings at camps and The Opening, and overall inconsistency. Hopefully he's able to get it together regardless of where he ends up because he is a talented player, but it seems obvious as to why he's suddenly interested in Miami after previously showing zero interest.

Oh okay. Understood

"(I plan on taking official visits to) Miami, NC State, Louisville and South Florida," sounds like he will end up at Louisville. There are way to many WR's available in FLorida that offer the same skill sets with a lot less baggage, which is unfortunate for the young man.

It sounds like he mentioning the home town Canes in order to regenerate some buzz in his recruitment hoping that some teams that have cooled on him will take another look.

That should tell you all you need to know how much his stock has fallen. Once NcSt, UL and USF start entering the picture, it's because those schools know that the big schools won't touch him.

Big kid size wise.

He's a rashawn Scott type... Is being coached by a former cane now if he is there for the take, grab him in my opinion. At least you have a cans coaching him that can give you the real deal info about him. He's a kid that hoes to Louisville and turns it around...id rather him do it at Miami.

There's not that many 6'2-6'3 200-205 wr in s.fla.

Here is the main issue has he learned from his mistakes he made from stealing and more importantly has he made reparations to those students which would speak volumes to his Character and ability for rehabilitation. Because if he has then the story will die eventually if he continues to do community service and stay clean, but if not then it will always be a red flag. The adults in life should counsel him to get his whole thing fixed, get him to do some community hours and move on with his potentially bright future. Also with his checkered pass this is not a recruit that can afford to play the south Florida primadonna recruiting game AT ALL.

This is exactly what will happen if we don't pursue him

For Those that have not read the article on him stealing while visiting Georgia.

Warrant: Accused football recruit continues to use iPhone he said he didn't steal

Warrant: Accused football recruit continues to use iPhone he said he didn't steal
By Ed Morales October 8, 2014

A five-star recruiting prospect, accused of felony burglary, watched a University of Georgia athlete while she slept and continues to use the iPhone he denied taking from the dorm room she shared with other female athletes, according to a search warrant released by the Clarke County Clerk’s Office last week.

Darnell Sam Salomon, 17, a star wide receiver from Miramar, Fla., turned himself in July 25 on a charge of felony first-degree burglary, accused of stealing a wallet and a white iPhone from a Busbee Hall dorm room during the morning hours of July 19. But new details reveal the stolen iPhone’s owner, another UGA athlete, contacted police to advise them her new phone downloaded photos and images from her iCloud account she was unfamiliar with. Two of the photos, added to her iCloud account on Aug. 3, were of Salomon, according to the search warrant.

The UGA athlete said she did not take the photos. More images have been added to the iCloud account since then, indicating “the stolen phone is still in use and linked” to the UGA athlete’s iCloud, according to the warrant. While talking with police, the athlete showed them her iCloud account which linked to a phone named “Megatron.” The athlete said she did not add the phone to her account, and authorities believe it to be her stolen iPhone.

Police used the Find My iPhone application with the UGA athlete’s iCloud account and placed the iPhone in lost mode, activating the phone’s GPS. The stolen phone sent back a message showing its location, which was Salomon’s Florida address, according to the warrant.

The warrant revealed more details from the morning of the incident when Salomon was in Athens while attending Georgia’s Dawg Night camp.

According to the warrant, one of the women in the dorm room woke up at 7:30 a.m. with an “unknown black male standing over her watching her sleep.” She started screaming and asked him why he was in her room, to which he replied, “I saw you in here naked,” the warrant reads. A suitemate came and the man, who identified himself as “Derrick,” slowly backed out of the room. After he left, none of the five women in the dorm knew who the man was.

Police called Salomon’s high school coach Michael Tunsil, who said Salomon denied doing anything wrong and denied leaving the football players’ suite after they went to sleep at 3 a.m. But video surveillance from Busbee Hall from July 19 shows Salomon looking around on the first floor of Busbee Hall between 5:55-6:42 a.m., according to the warrant.

Salomon, one of Florida’s top high school receivers for the Class of 2016, has scholarship offers from Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and LSU, among others.

Here is a article on the resolution of his charges with him pleading guilty to 1st degree burgalry.

5-star recruit Darnell Salomon pleads guilty in UGA dorm burglary
Sam Cooper By Sam Cooper July 23, 2014

Nearly a year after he was accused of stealing from a University of Georgia dorm room, Darnell Salomon pled guilty to first-degree burglary in Athens, Ga., court late last week.

Salomon, a five-star wide receiver from Miami in the class of 2016, had been accused of taking an iPhone and a “wallet containing cash and credit cards” from an unlocked UGA dorm room last July. Salomon was visiting campus as part of the Bulldogs’ “Dawg Night” prospect camp.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Salomon was “sentenced to perform 320 hours of community service, to pay restitution of $400 to replace an iPhone and its case, to undergo a substance abuse evaluation, and given five years of probation.” Additionally, Salomon “was barred from the Athens area, including the UGA campus, except for court purposes” or if he “played for another team that came to Sanford Stadium.”

Salomon told UGASports.com earlier in the month that he sent Georgia head coach Mark Richt an apology letter “about how sorry I was and how I showed bad character.” Freddrell Green, Salomon’s attorney, did not say if Richt was still recruiting Salomon.

From the AJC:

The ruling means Salomon is prohibited from visiting Athens. He is only allowed to return to the area to complete his community service hours. The judge did allow an exception for football games. If Salomon played for another team that came to Sanford Stadium, he would be allowed to do that.

Salomon’s attorney Freddrell Green was not able to confirm or deny if UGA was still recruiting his client. He did advise that he felt the ruling did not limit his client from accepting a scholarship offer and playing for UGA — which contradicts other reports.

Green also told the AJC he believes the burglary was “an isolated incident.”

“This is not indicative of the character of this young man and his reputation for community service,” Green said. “His record for academic achievement and athletic achievement is exemplary in his community. I feel very confident he is going to learn from this experience and will be a better man as a result of it.”

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Salomon is rated by Rivals as the second-best receiver in the country and the third-best prospect from Florida in his class. Overall, he is rated No. 16 overall in his class and has offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and USC, among many others.

Keep in mind schools can't comment on a specific recruit so the player can say anything they want about who is recruiting them and whom isn't.

I find it hard to believe this young man would still have a verbal offer from Miami, let alone ever receive a written offer given the Miami's tenuous state not to mention there are other options with WAY LESS BAGGAGE.

Go Canes

6'3 200lbs and can make people miss in space. Has more wiggle than any of our current WRs, other than Coley.

The likelihood of this going bad, especially with how quick miami is to punish and expel, are so high it is not worth it. Hopefully the coaches are not wasting their time on the kid.

I would not mind taking 5 or even 6 WRs this class if they are as talented as the ones we already have.

But would you take Salomon though?? Redshirt him get his head on str8 first if it was me

I would have to see full proof evidence in a change of attitude. At this point with Freddie swain and others stil out there salomon would not be a take for me
