CB Kenton Dopson Decommits

Imagine being so butt hurt because a staff member didn't give you an offer your freshman year even though you clearly got one later on and then committed

TrumpyCane thinks its a great idea though to commit to a grandpa whos more focused on punani
BigDikDaddy thinks punani is such an underutilized word. BigDikDaddy also thought it was spelled poonany, but he my have been mistaken.

Trumpycane thinks the difference is Mario had a proven track record

What has Bill done at the college level besides make UNC a laughing stock?
100% and it goes beyond just between the lines. Everything at UNC is toxic. Bill and his bimbo, his presumptive coach caught in a recruiting scandal, banning patriots scouts from campus, hulu doc getting cancelled etc.... Miami could at least say Mario is going to develop your son into a man.
If it's business (what else could it be) at least stand on it. Don't put out this narrative about a fired coach hurting your kids feelbadz 2 years ago being the reason he is leaving now.

next year we have 3-4 NFL CBs coming back
we have slime and seat belt waiting
this isnt a big miss for me
its more of a luxury, lets take his money and go up one the bags for the Dline
thats where the games are won
It’s cool to me, I know people said Patrick Peterson but I don’t see it. But I do trust the people that said that. I don’t think he’s that I hope I am right cause losing someone like that would be a pretty big miss.

People are saying he’s got Patrick Peterson talent?

I agree but do kids think like that? A bag is a bag no matter if it’s orange and green or any other color.
Totally agree with what you're saying, but.... At some point, a grown up needs to enter the room and explain to some of these kids the difference between short term and long term planning, specifically as it applies to football money. If Kent is HIM, it won't matter where he goes to school because he will be great regardless. However, those types of players are really rare. Most kids need coaching and guidance to get better....which will make them get drafted higher....which means more money.....and if they learn a work ethic in addition to sharpening their craft, they will get a second NFL contract which is where the REAL money is.

None of this is directed at you. I just needed to get that out of my system.

This only happens in Miami. Imagine Saban or Kirby told the kid this, the tweet would read, "When I was a freshman Coach told me I had a lot to work on. I made it my goal to get that offer, now all the work has paid offf...."
The coach who said this isn’t even on staff anymore lol

I have no issue, none, with a guy taking the highest offer. In fact, I think if you don’t do that you’re making a mistake. A windfall like some of these kids seem to be getting at 18 is serious, and taking less is something there’s no way I’d advise an 18 year old to do.

That being said. This ************. This ******, no neck, xxxl fits like sausage casing mother ******. This is the **** that ****es me off.

Why would it matter if he wasn’t worth an offer 3 years ago?

This family seems like it is extrememly thin skinned.

And more importantly, why is a dad on socal media commenting on his son? Just live your life and move on. Someone needs to act like an adult in that family.

Not that I disagree with your overall point here. But there are so many unknowns in your example that anybody turning down a big bag now on the chance to get developed for a second NFL contract is making poor financial decisions.

Miami is 5-0 and looks to be on a great trajectory, but let's not pretend that we are some surefire development factory. We might get there and I expect Belichick to flame out spectacularly at UNC, but his name still holds plenty of weight.

If Dopson is any good and Belichick leaves, he can pick up his fat sack of cash and look for another one with a team that develops.

Anyways, not directing at you specifically and I do agree with your overall point about long-term vs. short-term planning and also think Miami is a better spot than UNC, at least right now.

But if UNC is offering 7 figures and we are offering half that, he would be silly to turn it down on the chance that Miami gives him a better shot at a second NFL contract (which less than 50% of first-rounders get).

Maybe it is because his son has dozens of Miami fans in his mentions calling him retarded and a "******* dummy" and pathetic and screenshotting his post about honoring his mom?

I am not saying that is you, but we can't call the family thin-skinned while some of our fanbase is telling a 17-year-old that he is dishonoring his mother because he decommitted from a football program.

Addae still hurting us on the trail?

Lol Im not on board with the disrespect about his mom and **** but this is genuinely a dumbass tweet by his dad lmfao.

This is EXACTLY the reason recruiting South Florida kids is so ******* infuriating - they all (including their parents/"mentors")have this retarded mentality. Bro you're saying you'd never allow your son to be committed somewhere because a coach said he wasn't deserving of a ******* scholarship as a freshman?!?!!!!!!!

That's the exact ******* mentality and reason why we need to go national and only get literally just a handful of local guys and maybe around 10ish Florida prospects in total per year. And you know for a ******* fact that the higher rated they are the more of this mentality they have like they automatically deserve the world JUST FROM MIAMI.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to call the kid out for honoring his mother with a commitment and later decommitting. No insider, but it is as clear as day that UNC gave him a bigger NIL package to flip. Both sides had to reevaluate. We weren't going to match so his side made the move. Bringing his post about his mom back up is totally unnecessary.

At the same time, Pops Dopson reads these boards. He knows us idiot fans do not represent Mario and his staff. The program is not throwing shade, just dumb fans, which trust me you can find anywhere including UNC. So Pops, stop being falsely outraged because it isn't productive. And the thing about not being offered as a freshman in high school, come on man, how silly is that?

Hopefully, young Dopson keeps balling out and both sides maintain good relations and contact. And this all gets sorted out come signing day.
