2027 CB Board (2027 Edition)

So do we still pursue Osborne? He is really good but with Hyppolite still out there that’s a ton of DBs for a class that is supposed to be on the smaller side.

I doubt it, but I didn’t think we’d allocate for another big time CB after Wright committed so who knows.

Holland thinks we've got the best CB class in the nation

Miami has the best cornerback duo in the country. In my opinion, it’s not even a debate.

Simmons

They are different kinds of players but similar. Hall is physical, while Donte is more natural in coverage. It’s a great tandem to have. It would be hard to find a better duo. this cycle

Visiting Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame. Second skilled position to decommit from IU this cycle. I find this dynamic fascinating. Relationships, brand/marketing, commits and current players recruiting prospects, healthy paranoia of other programs, and location (recruit is from ohio; other recruit is from Louisville and flipped to Louisville) still matter; no matter how much money and winning eases the gap.

I know Cignetti prefers saving NIL bucks for roster retention bonus and transfers; still, feels like the “cool,” glowup that winning is supposed to bring hasn’t translated to the same extent yet. May never translate even if they can get a higher ranked type of recruit onto campus more often now.

We know they don’t put that heavy emphasis on high school recruiting so interested to see how this strategy works now that the transfers won’t have knowledge of the system they’re going to. Still going to be really good, but may lose an intangible advantage.

Another possible major miscalculation: early OVs. They’ve already had 26 prospects visit them and 247 shows 12 more visitors, 1 of them being a commit, for the rest of the summer.

Three top ten cornerbacks left: Dobson, Meredith, and Stepp.

A&M will get 1 of Meredith and Dobson; if they get Meredith then Dobson is a wild card to auburn, Michigan or South Carolina. If Texas gets Meredith then Dobson most likely going to A&M.

Stepp is an Alabama/Berkley/Oregon/UGA battle and he is a bishop Gorman guy. LSU has an ATH who menmon says is a beast DB however the Ivins eval says the kid is determined/destined to play on the offensive side.

UGA/LSU/Bama/OSU are down on their luck this cycle when it comes to cornerbacks. LSU will most likely have a strong safeties class tho.
