I don’t judge on w’s and l’s. I first judge with what my eyes see. That was not a good football team week one, or any other week..... right up to the bowl. I actually posted after UF “ that’s a bad team”.

If you look like a bad team all year you’ll get what we finished....6-7. It was an awful coaching job. One of the worst coaches teams I’ve ever seen in 30 + years of watching football.

Honestly I don’t think some here realize how huge the qb position disparity is from last year to this year. From physically to leadership , that alone is enormous.
I don’t need to listen I’ve been watching this team 40+ years and I know for a fact that this team isn’t losing four games this year. Especially with that schedule.

So you you can predict the future and account for injuries. I SAID culture change is more important than any exact W/L number

Wtf are you talking about ? Nobody is playing injuries into this , or can you read the future there fella? So you were basing 8 wins of injuries happening ?

8 wins would be pathetic with one of the worst schedules in cfb , a new kicker and qb good enough to have top five heisman chances. On top of most of the team being back but with more talent. And that’s not even counting Lashlee vs enos and the huge difference in scheme and philosophy.

Spare me with the culture talk , manny helped build the culture here. Right down to talking a bunch of **** in the off season , coming up with fire slogans like “ tnm” and showing up to rival coaches clinics with beer, showing up to events in expensive boats and cars. All this while he’s never did anything as a coach. Sound familiar ? Kinda like the players last year?

If you notice he’s keeping his trap shut and trying to fix this mess. That’s what he should’ve done last year , rather than writing a bunch of checks then bouncing them.

Your telling me “the worst coached team I’ve seen in 30+ years” is gonna be a ten win team the following season, no questions asked.
What i have continued to say is an exact w/l is not as important as the overall team momentum.
Those thing you mentioned aren’t culture. Those are antics, not culture. Culture is behavior and what’s being done on greentree and campus. Which we don’t see. We see the byproduct. Manny can say do this do that and it don’t mean anything to the players.

To your point, if we win 10/11 games and King goes off, then leaves, and we revert back to the same type of culture we had before, was all this worth it? No! We have to build momentum and program that can withstand injuries, a virus, guys leaving early. Which we don’t have. That’s why the number one thing for 2020 is building that foundation. Can we do that in 2020 with this team? Yes! But that’s not the number one most important thing IMO.

Culture isn’t just behavior , it’s everything in the program. The coach sets the culture by not allowing quitters back on the team. Kids that literally said f it during the season. Allowing guys to fail multiple drug tests , suspend him then still name him the starting qb. Demote him when he goes awol then put back in the first game they play after taking his job. That’s not even including the stuff nobody knew about with the qb.

Kinda hard to talk culture after that.

Culture isn’t what guys do off the field, it’s how they treat Saturday’s , practice and football. Miami while I grew up was all business on the field , they policed their own locker room. Practice was all business.

Manny last year was a charcuterie , a walking gimmick. But this team is so loaded even he can win 10 games , king is just that special. Dude was humbled last year and there’s an obvious difference around the team this year. It’s not a culture change , it’s him look like a clown to all of cfb and his team.

Being the cool mom didn’t work.

Yup I can predict with whats called my Opinion and understanding what our opponents have coming back for their team. This year sets up perfectly and we should be favored in every game we play this year. We finally have a Real College QB which we haven't had in many many years. We finally have an OC who has actually had success as a true OC. We have a DL that could be one of the greatest we've had in many years. Yes that includes the young DT's who I think will surprise this year. We know Manny won't make the mistake he did last year with not being fully involved in the Defense calls and prep. We finally have bodies on the OL and a good OL coach. We finally have a kicker who has proved he can make kicks from all distances and make big kicks in big games. There is more positive going for this team than we've had in many years. I'm a 40 year season ticket holder and I haven't felt this good since 2002.

Off the field is culture man. Were you apart of a college program? If guys are 110% during practice and film but not commited off the field, that doesn’t matter Ed Reed talks about it all the time how they were business of the field too. Culture is everything a program is doing. I promise you Ohio State/Bama has kids doing the right stuff when its not football. Guys aren’t partying before games or during the week. Not showing up to walk throughs high. Coach’s can’t curtail that stuff, players do. And having players hold each other accountable like that is imperative. But again, your making my point that culture change is the most important thing and players need to do that.

I agree man. The expectations are warranted. I’m just as excited. And we can def obtain 10/11 wins no doubt. But all that talent doesn’t mean anything if we don’t have a great culture and atmosphere and build something moving forward. 2021 king, kicker, DL is gone. We need to have a foundation that can continue to have success year in and year out. That starts with culture. Look at Ohio State and Bama, they have become factories and it shows that they do the right on/off the field. Guys stay extra years, develop, they rarely have let down games.

We should win 10/11. If we don’t but still win games and see a change in the program and culture I’m okay with that. All that’s said. Idk how that is wrong.

Please don't compare last season's team to this year. It's a completely different offense with Bigtime playmakers.
I'm not. My point was pure W/Ls don't always tell the whole story. Hence I can't necessarily say 8-4 next year = abject failure.

Give Manny time. All the great coaches took a few years to get their sht together. I'm not saying Manny is great. He has a lot to prove but at least he did what we couldn't get other coaches to do and that's change whats not working. We should be 4-0 to start the season. Mich State lost so much of a team that was average last year so I'm not worried about them.

Once again wtf are you talking about? I literally said that culture is everything, I’ve preached that for months on here. I said manny set the culture here and he helped create it over the years.

Manny is just using “ culture “ talk to cover his *** up. Which is coaching 101 when people want your head. I’m surprised you didn’t know that mr former player. I’ve actually heard that from multiple former coaches. It’s a survival mechanism. If there’s a culture problem you don’t mention it every presser , you fix it with actions .

People around the program including manny knows he messed up with the things I’ve mentioned above , hard to sell culture when lack of work ethic and quitting was rewarded. From skipping practices , class, breaking curfew the night before the games etc.

People on the staff even believe they made mistakes with how they handled it. That’s from actual coaches mouths

So how is fixing that not the most important thing which is what I said lmao

I said fix that and win 8/9 games and that’s okay, we are in the right direction. How is that so horrid of a take. I’d rather fix that win 9 games then go 11-1 and we still have those issues.

Here’s the gist of the debate , literally everyone says 8 wins is unacceptable. You got butthurt because you look like a goof saying 8 wins.

Culture is an excuse being used by the guy that helped build the culture yet he calls the culture a problem. You go on talking about how you played division 9 football and that makes your bad prediction look legit. Even though plenty of d1 players I’ve met are quite clueless about the game. That doesn’t earn instant credence.

If we win 10 or 11 games it’s not because of culture. It’s because we have a major upgrade at oc, a heisman candidate level qb , a top 10-12 recruiting class , a kicker that’s good and majority of the team returning. It’s not the freaking culture magically being fixed in 10 months. It’s just special talent at key positions.

If we win 8 or less it means manny is a **** coach and there’s more proof to add to the the pudding. Manny hired an awful oc and was lucky enough to get a retry at the most important hire of his career, that’s not culture lol. Jesus.

It was fun but I’m done here. Good luck with the pod.

I'm not. My point was pure W/Ls don't always tell the whole story. Hence I can't necessarily say 8-4 next year = abject failure.

Yes 8-4 is abject failure because of the circumstances of Diaz's hiring, fair or not. Blake James went all in on Diaz and hired him without a coaching search despite some better names out there. Not only that, but he paid Temple millions for him. Most of us couldn't believe the hiring process, but James said he knew 100% that Diaz was the right guy. Then he goes out and has an embarrassingly bad season with probably the single most embarrassing loss in recent memory (nothing- not the OB loss, Clemson shellacking is as bad as losing to FIU and Butch Davis). So Diaz doesn't have the rope to go 8-4 when the team will be the favorite in every single game until the ACC championship.

With our schedule , our talent vs the opponents then mixing in a really good college qb with a perfect fit offense it would tell a lot. Then mix in the other transfers / kicker.

8 wins after six wins would be another epic failure and might be the nail in Diaz’s coffin. No excuse especially with a special qb like king. Before covid I was told manny needed 9 wins to survive , a lot of people were ****ed, important folks. There was actual talk about moving on last year. Manny and Blake are in sink or swim mode now.

Covid might give him an excuse , and maybe it changed the nine wins talk. But eight wins will tell you everything , if he happens to keep his job with 8 wins he’ll go in to 21 on the same hot seat. Minus covid.

But the jury will have their decision , 8-4 would need world class corching to achieve.

🤣🤣 I said my opinion before the COVID season. Tried to give dude the benefit of the doubt to change things. He tried, and failed. That opinion of win around 8/9 and culture change for this season were not the same. I felt you either win the coastal or buy. I thought he changed the culture, but the coaching/prep/ commitment/selfishness issues still seem to persist.
