I rewatched the play about 50 times. Beck simply made a huge mistake. What makes Beck so good is that he will make a decision and boom, the ball is on it’s way. In a way that is a great trait but it is an extremely bad one also.

Beck simply had a brain fart and forgot no one was in the flat. If he waits a split second, he sees the DB sink. Or he hits Toney for probably a touchdown or hits the seam route. But like always he can be way to trigger happy

In his mind he was going to Marion regardless. Heck Marion did not even know the ball was coming to him. Looking back his route i think he was to hold the safety and the read was the other safety. Safety comes down on Toney he hits Bauman. Safety plays the seams Toney is one on one with the lb. He forget the big picture and that’s take what they will give you. Got impatient and made a bad decision

Yep, if he had patience and just scanned the field he probably had a touchdown.
Didn't want a TD. Not that early. But one of Toney or Bauman would have been open. Hit the dig to Toney and we are between 30 and 25 with the clock stopping for the 1st down with :42 or :43 seconds left. Take that final 30 yards in two pieces and we would have been throwing into the EZ in the last 20 seconds.

Even if we score a TD all the farmers would have needed is a FG to win so you want to leave them with as little time as possible

Honestly I think Beck didn’t see the DB because he thought he was covering the flat. I say this because of how he placed the ball.

All year long we have failed to hit deep fades. Sure we broke our tendencies by throwing it but we shouldn’t have simply due to Becks lack of ability to hit it. USF to Moore may be the last fade we hit and it was 5 yards under thrown and late. Becks arm is cooked post elbow surgery and we made the best of it but it wasn’t enough

The back end of the IU defense blanketed our receivers all night. Or so it seemed. We didn't lose the game on that last INT thrown by Beck.

So it was Beck’s fault that we had a punt blocked & missed yet another field goal? Where was Bauman on the punt block? Definitely looking forward to a new kicker next year. Indiana was very lucky to win and they know it.
