Carson Beck being overlooked

I dont think people watched much of UGA last year. yes his receivers stunk. but he also had some brain dead decisions in games especially that middle of the year stretch. him and ewers to me hurt themselves a lot injury or not because they both looked mentally shook at times.
They will refuse to see this cause he’s in our jersey. If he was still at UGA and this was posted everyone would agree. Some fans you can’t debate with cause they can only see one thing, is he a cane or not. That’s all they see for them, they can’t be objective at all.

It’s all just a bunch of off season cope, literally every year people just rewrite history and think the only scenario is the best case scenario

Isn’t the 40 a straight line? He isn’t close to cam when it comes to moving laterally
Probably not but if he can at least be a Malik Rosier with his legs that is enough because he is a good passer from the pocket.

TVD 2.0.....

All jokes aside, I honestly did get TVD vibes watching him last year. I wasn’t too impressed, that’s why I wasn’t overly hyped by the pick up. He was being coached by Bobo, and receivers were non existent, but I can only give an experienced dude of his caliber so many excuses. The ewers comparison is spot on. I think he will 100% benefit from playing an extra year in the ACC, but ND and gators will tell us everything we actually need to know about him (and really the team overall).

That whole offense was *** at UGA. Led the nation in drops. Couldn’t run the ball. In the SEC. I’m seeing ppl bring up TVD. Comparing him in anyway to TVD is crazy

Beck will do fine In the ACC behind this oline. Doubt we lead the Nation in drops and forget how to run the ball.

Agreed. I live in Georgia, and have watched pretty much every UGA game for years. When the QB is the ENTIRE offense, bad things happen. Think about how Cam made dumb mistakes during the GT game because nothing else could get going. That’s similar to Beck’s stupid mistakes last year. Throw in being coached by Bobo both years, and, well…he’s lucky he’s not DJU.

eh. he was pretty awful (in terms of what you expect from an elite QB) last year (same w ewers at texas).

he made the smart move to come back to college vs going pro like ewers (I suspect the injury had a lot to do with it but it benefits us).

he can absolutely rebuild his stock here though. he likely wont be cam and thats okay. cam was 1 of 1. well never see another cam here again. also I caution anyone putting cam ward expectations on beck. he isnt cam. hes not as good or as talented as cam was. doesn't mean he cant be great though.
I don’t think he was mentally shook because I look at a game like that bama game. Uga was bad in that 1st half and went into the half down 30-7. He brought them back with 3td passes in the 2nd half and gave them a shot at the end of the game.

That texas game was the worst of his career. Uf he started off with picks but other than that was solid. Just seem most of those picks he was trying to force things for whatever reason and throwing into double and triple coverage. Those type things can be easily corrected which is why I think he will be fine

9 interceptions in a 4 game span seems like an apt TVD comparison (despite all the excuses). Not saying he will be TVD, but there were definitely games and throws where I thought, “Wth is this dude thinking”. Brought back some “fond” memories.

At any rate I think we’ll know what we have with him by the end of September, but I’m not expecting first pick of the draft type performances. As long as he’s not getting in his own way, I’m fine with him. Rest of the team really needs to step up this year. Especially the Defense.

TVD vs middle tenn..or North Carolina, NC state. Or the GA tech game.
With TVD we literally stopped calling a normal game on offense that year. Beck was 28-12 compared to TVD 19-12 in 11 games his last year here in the ACC..I just don’t see it. UGA had problems on O that had nothing to do with the QB.

he’s gonna come here in the ACC and throw for over 3500 & at Least 25 TDs & we will all pretend these takes never happened.

The same people worried about Beck's interceptions are the same people who were nervous about Ward's turnovers. With this scheme, he's going to put up huge numbers

He wasn’t perfect, but I think the OL issues, drops and scheme problems exasperated his issues. He was due for a degree of regression losing Ladd & Bowers. Everything kinda cratered all at once.

Here is a side by side comparison of our offense to theirs last season. Yes there’s more factors at play, worse competition, Ward is probably better than Beck, etc.

Factor in UGA leading P4 football in dropped passes, and what was an anemic rushing offense, I don’t know many QBs who would’ve succeeded. Beck might flop here. And he didn’t play great last season but UGA couldn’t run on anyone. And it wasn’t because of loaded boxes. Their OL was a bottom tier OL in P4 football.

Odds are he moves to the mean if our OL plays to the level of consistency we had last season and Beck had in 2023. When his completion percentage was 72%. UGA also averaged 32 passes per game in 2023. So the higher percentage isn’t due to a major drop in pass attempts either.

Thanks for putting this side by side together. Helps

So good qbs never make boneheaded plays and try to force things? Also it goes both ways, some of yall think the only scenario is the worst scenario.
Of course, cam made boneheaded plays but it’s levels even to that and the reason i said that is our fanbase overlooks alot for the best case scenario

And im not even saying the worst case scenario will happen..sometimes what people here think is the worst case scenario would actually be it working out well for us but the cope is so strong that the expectations become unrealistic

I don’t understand why fans can’t be hopeful and optimistic about the players and season without it being labeled coping. Sure it may all come crashing down but isn’t that what being a fan is - blind optimism followed by a crash and then doing it gains the next year. There aren’t any points awarded for being a curmudgeon and it coming true.
