All the chicken littles in here wanting to give this clown staff an open ended run are the same ones who wanted Golden here forever.

If it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, its a duck.

Mark Richt wasnt good enough to win at UGA. Why would he magically be way better here? Classic “hes better bc he wears UM gear” idiocy.

Some things never change. Had people wanting Coker to get a 10 year deal back in the day

Richt gave us the biggest name coach we could hope for, great face for the program. Having said that, he needs to hire an OC so he can play coach. IMO, that would help improve other groups, ie Special Teams, Oline. This ain't WSU.

I think the national landscape is far different from what it was back in our heyday. Florida talent is in high demand and we can't keep everyone home. Richt isn't Saban. We're not going to be in the title hunt every year. He ain't Dabo either. But, as others have stated, even some of the most recognized coaches aren't as great as they seem. I think Richt falls into the top tier of coaches though.

I have my doubts about Richt and there probably the same one Georgia fans had.
1a) Lost his touch as an OC
1b) Will he recognize that, swallow his pride, and hire an elite OC?
2) Will he be too loyal to staffers if they don't cut it? (I know he fired coaches at Georgia but was his hand forced by the administration?)
3) Can he win the big games? ND and VT proved to be overrated last year.

When it's all said and done, one thing is for sure, we're far better off now then we have been for the last 10 years. I think we can expect 10 wins every year, ACC Championship game every year, playoff talk, great recruiting, and every once in a while have a few things bounce our way and end up in the Playoffs.

The two most popular people in football are the backup quarterback and a coach who has yet to coach a single game at his new job.

Something about the grass always being greener.

Why is nystate still allowed to post here?
Richt couldn’t win at uga? Only a .715 winning % in the sec.
there are issues, but Texas gets beat by a horrible MD team, other “top” coaches everybody wanted are getting beat.

guys HE GOT FIRED FROM UGA FOR NOT WINNING ENOUGH.

He was ****canned from UGA bc he wasnt elite, and they are better than ever now with a new coach.

If your standard of winning is a conference title every five years on average, Rick is your man.

If your standard is what we USED to have here, then Rick aint it.

If Miami gets rid of Richt cause of the pressure from the outside..I’d still watch and hope for success..but I’d lose total respect for the program... would be the worst move ever

Golden was fired, and about four years too late.

When the banners started flying - it affected the BOT, the President, the AD, but especially, it affected Golden and his for-**** coaches.

Which affected his/their coaching.

And Clemson? They just did the clean up.

The Alternative?

Richt pulls his head out of his butt - tells Jon good luck - hires a great OC, hires a great OLine coach, and at least consider whether or not Manny is the guy.

In other words - just DO What You're Hired To DO - or - hit the road.

I've heard there is a pretty good coach at FIU that would be a great fit at Miami.

I think I heard the same thing - a great defensive mind - an unmatched talent evaluator - a relentless and highly successful recruiter - yeah, I believe he's at FIU! Didn't he even win a couple Super Bowl rings as DC?

Not saying to fire Richt - I am not in that camp at all - but hard to argue with what Kirby Smart has done in a little over two years at UGA - I watched that SC-UGA game Saturday and the physicality of UGA is definitely Bama like.

This makes me wonder how many cfb coaches have gone on to have greater success after being fired?

Richt really just needs to revamp the staff to an extent.

As many have said, his offensive playcalling is obsolete. His son isn't a good QB coach, and we have serious issues at o-line.

He needs to be a hands on CEO at this point in his career - get a great OC/QB coach, a great o-line coach, and I think we're a completely different team.

That can be said of a lot of coaches though, so what the **** do I know?

This is a fact though - if we had hired Butch and gone 10-3 last year and dropped the opener to LSU this year, we'd all be having this same conversation. Please don't fool yourself into thinking it would be any different. "Fans" have no patience.

I cant think of a single coach who was fired from a college program and then went on to win a NC.

But the happy adjusters will ignore this, and ignore how great UGA has been, bc it doesnt fit their narrative.

Got it.
Who's the elite guy that's available right now?
Who is "it"?

Everybody talks about the FIU coach but the FAU coach wins more and had a bigger turnaround than the year before 🤷🏽‍♂️
