CAREFUL…

Anytime I read about a sure thing I immediately know there is a distinct possibility that just the opposite may very well occur (see 2016 Presidential election).

This rule is especially true when it comes to college football. I would caution those who have already put the North Carolina game in the Canes win column.

The combination of a team desperate to beat a hated ranked opponent, facing a team that believes the game will be a walkover and will be facing a potentially season defining opponent the following week, can be lethal for the favorite.. at home, 33 point favorite Michigan loses to Appalachian State!
Then, there was the lock of the season where Clemson was only favored by 22 points over lowly Syracuse.

What we know is this year’s edition of Canes football is a work in progress and most every game has required 4 quarters of herculean efforts to win.

Yes, I also know that North Carolina has played horribly, their QB situation is shoddy and their injury report is longer than my…well…the report is very long!

Yet, they play the game for a reason and I am almost certain the Tar Heels are going to show up (by the way; what the **** is a Tar Heel?).

If our Canes do not come to Kenan Memorial Stadium prepared, focused and ready to rumble then brace yourself for a frustrating afternoon, along with exposing ourselves to needless injuries that happen when players are not going at full speed.

This coming Saturday should be an excellent opportunity to shore up areas the Canes have been deficient and if possible give the starters some rest in the second half. This is a game in which the Canes should become an even better team.

To be clear, I am not predicting an upset, but…

I hear what you are saying, but the fans aren't on the field. The players should be drilling with Richt as hard as FSU week. If we pull ahead, then they can rest. Till then every game counts. Especially in conference. There is a very real possibility VT could win the Coastal this year. We can't allow that.

last second win, last second win, almost choking in game with countless turnovers. I am thinking this team is confident it will win any game but I doubt it thinks it is blowing out anyone yet. NC might keep it close for all the reasons you mention but our boys are calm and our QB is cold blooded.

I get the logic but it's not happening this week.

We play well on the road under Richt.

Sorry *** UNC has beaten us 2 years in a row and these players don't forget these things.

We'll win by 21 minimum

The last time we were ranked playing a UNC team that was sub .500...

... well we lost. 2004 ring a bell? Anything can happen in college football, and you know UNC will risk everything to beat a top 10 team at home. I hope our players are hungry after what they experienced in 2015 and 2016.

I would be worried if the players didn't have the attitude that they were going to smash UNC. Of course, that would come with them having put in the work leading up to the game while taking them on seriously.

If we pull out a close win again this week then it's time to look around and point some fingers.. Cause a team with an injury report 20 people deep almost (that wasn't that good to begin with) should be beat pretty easily by a top 10 program. We have the talent to turn the ball over 5 times and flirt with covering

How heavily favored was the last championship team when they played BC>>>

Miami defeated B.C. in a very close game in Chestnut Hill, 18-7. This is the game with the historic touchdown run by Ed Reed with less than a minute left to preserve the win for the Canes.

Cannot take any team lightly, any team and the ACC officials...:ambivalence:

How is it that some fans worry about every single game? This is a 1-7 team in total disarray. Golden made a bunch of you extremely soft. Some games are just gimmes and this is one of them.

A message board is going to impact what happens on the field....

This UNC team doesn't have a single guy that would start for that BC team.

(I actually have no idea whether or not that's true, but it sounded good in my head).

Anything can happen in college football, yes.

Just like the probability of me nailing Scarlett Johannson to a wall.

Anything can happen. But unlike Scarlett, I concentrate on things LIKELY to happen.

If not I'd go insane, lol.

We'll be okay. :)

Our toughest obstacle that year was Larry Coker.

THIS.

Clappy was an idiot in the fact he typically let off the gas too early.

At least Erickson knew what he had, and kept his foot on the gas. Look no further than the '91 Cotton Bowl when he told the refs to drop dead.

Will Mark Richt be full sized or will there be a mini-Mark Richt also?

I was at that game and that great Canes team won by the grace of God. All night long BC out hit them, out hustled them and out thought them. Once again, it is not terribly unusual for a very good college football team to overlook an opponent that had no business being on the same field with them.
