Canes-Pitt Video

I do like that the two qbs got love for each other no matter who’s playing. I would be ok with this season if we had an elite class coming in but we don’t so can’t wait for the next staff to see who we hire in three years.
There is some premium talent in the top half of the class even more so than the 2019 class which seemed to be much better than they were ranked. Always a chance to supplement the class with the transfer portal too

Class is #9 at the moment on Rivals.

Coker said the key to good recruiting is to get at least one truly elite player every class. I’d argue you want two, but I get his point. You put Hester, Sean T, Winslow, and Bryant Mckinnie on pretty much any UM team and they win 9 plus games. We’ve been missing the truly elite talent. That’s the difference.
Guys people thought to be elite like Lingard, Donaldson, Hall, Nesta, and Pope haven’t reached an elite status. Until those type of guys start making huge impacts we will be average.

You clearly haven't been a fan through the two previous rebuilds to dynasty .... We rarely ever get the "elite" guys until things are rolling. If your expectation is we need elite recruits to win then go be a fan of another team. We are above the magical 50% blue chip level of elite teams now and the 3 and 4 star guys on this team are more than good enough (other than the OL).

As for your question, Clemson turned into a monster using the exact model I described. They only turned the corner once they had D Watson. Other than DL and Watkins/Hopkins at WR they've put fewer guys in the NFL at every other position than UM.

Oklahoma wins with talent at QB and OL and a bunch of nothing at every other position ... especially the D.

Your vision is clouded by Bama and OSU (and UGA more recently) b/c nobody else can win by overwhelming the other team with talent.
I followed recruiting since 07-08 Clemson was paying kids and getting better recruits then us period. They reached next level now cause they finally won but let’s not act like they weren’t a force on the trail cause they were before there rise

Then we will never be elite, to be elite u have to have elite classes that’s been proven for 15 years straight. Show me a team with back to back to back under the radar classes that’s won a national championship.
Edit: if Chaney wasn’t coming this class would be a total disaster, it’s already a failed class with too many projects and 4-5 prospects that are good. And with this staffs history this year guys are regressing under them and they play uninspiring football.

Watch I guarantee in two to three years (if they last that long) the roster will be very unbalanced and less overall talent then now. The 20 and 21 classes will be full of decommitts and those decommitts will be the best prospects In Those classes.
What we want as fans is a dominant UM but the route to get to it is through elite recruiting. For some reason a lot of fans in this fan base think a x and o guy will make us elite, but these very fans forget every route we have taken to become dominant has always been out athleting the other guy across you. So this imaginary route of getting a genius will not bring UM back, and if we continually hire guys who can’t go up against the sec we will continue to be who we are.......a joke an old power that’s done.

PS: this is wrong. We just had guys that refused to lose and put in the work. All of the top 15 teams in the country had similar athletes but Miami had the culture of winning and the locker room that didn't accept mediocrity. All indications right now are that the team lacks the necessary leadership (other than DJD) to win those close games. That will change next year with Blades, Frierson, Nesta on D. Let's see who steps up besides Brevin on O.

That is a crock of ****.

First off, every team in the SEC, FSU, Clemson, etc pay guys so they all get some elite guys but until Clemson had D Watson they never won ****. They gave up 70 points to West Virginia in the 2012 Orange Bowl and were known for Clemsoning.

The NFL proved we had the best talent then regardless of magazines or what service said we didnt. Right now with social media camps etc the swrvices are more accurate. When our guys went to the nfl they were elite not cause of culture it was because they were good to begin with. A sean taylor was good because he was sean taylor not cause of the uniform. An Ed Reed was good cause he was Ed Reed....those guys are easier to spot now. U really think a Reed from Louisiana is going unoticed now? No way.
The nfl proved are guys were legit cayse they playex well in the nfl as well. Now our guys go and they get lost on practice squads etc because its just who they are and have always been.

They had good players and some elite and then they struck gold with watson. But they did pay off kids before they won they paid off Sammy Watkins and alot more others. Watkins wasnt even allowed to pick up a phone call from Golden

So you had no point of all of your posts then b/c you just admitted they always got some elite guys and they always paid but it wasn't until they got a winner in Watson to put them over the top.

You just affirmed my entire series of posts. We have a high enough blue chip ratio to win a lot of games and we just need to get to the point when the leadership (and coaching) gets us over the hump.

We're never going to get the guys looking for the payday (ie: James Williams) but we sure as **** have enough talent at safety right now for the next two years (Hall and Bolden plus K Smith waiting in the wings) that losing Williams won't prevent us from winning.

We have really good Freshmen prospects at D-Line, really solid DL recruits, and Garvin (likely), Rousseau, Ford, Silvera all coming back next year. Would it have been nice to have 5* Donnell on board ... of course, but missing out on him and his bag$ isn't going to prevent us from winning.

CB we have lagged behind in getting the "elite" guys but we rarely if ever would have been getting those guys in the past either. We have plenty of CB talent and its unfortunately mostly young and going through growing pains just like the Safety spot. Bandy, Blades, Ivey have all taken their turns getting burned this year but there is no substitute for experience (I remember Rumph getting roasted as a Freshman back in the day) and all are 4* guys plus C Williams, Couch means we have more than enough talent for the next 3 years.

LB future looks bright with Brooks, Huff, and Frierson (in Finley's role) ... just need to add more depth and talent which I believe has been addressed in this recruiting class ... once again with 4* guys.

QB we are fine with for the next couple of years with JW and the early commitment from Van Dyke.

RB we always have NFL talent. TE we always have NFL talent. WR we always have talent but as a group they have been underwhelming on the field ... hopefully just a function of the dreadful OL making things difficult.

The MAJOR weakness is OL and hopefully that can be fixed with experience and coaching. It sucks we lost out on the 5* FL kids to Bama and Clemson but once again we we're never getting those guys in the past either. We have an entire roster of 4* type guys that just haven't panned out for the most part. Hopefully experience and coaching can get that headed in the right direction over the rest of the year, spring camp, summer, and fall camp to at least just not be a liability for next year.

Agree to disagree i have went back in forth with numerous posters about this. Im not going to write a long *** essay to preach my side of thoughts. What makes u think we have elite evaluators or closers to see a watson type and land him? There is no savior in our class IMO and we dont have magician play callers thats proven already. I can guarantee that the way we recruit and suck for 15 years we will stay this way until what i said changes. There is a reason Ivins tweeted out after the Diaz hire....he said if Miami continues to bleed in sfla and Diaz cant keep elite kids home he will suffer the same fate as the others before him. There is a reason reporters media an talent evaluators say this.....because we have 15 years of evidence that proves that if u cant lock down sfla u lose period.
Your hope and your break down comes from a scholl Clemson who isnt Miami. Where my opinion is based on 15 years of facts on where we are and why we are. Miami is Miami and Clemson is Clemson.

You know what else happened in those 15 years? Miami became not worth a sh-t and embarrassed themselves literally every time we played on a big national stage. The realities are this... 1) kids want to go where they can win and 2) not a single player in any high school in florida has any first hand experience with Miami being a winning football team. The ONLY association any of them have with Miami and winning are tales their fathers and uncles tell them. They don't picture us massacring strong opponents in the OB when they think of Miami (they were barely even alive back then!); no, they picture us getting our pants pulled down by LSU and Wisconsin, or losing in some sh-t bowl in Idaho. These are painful facts, but they are true.

You know why we got the big time guys back in the day? Because they saw us kicking a-s and wanted to be part of it. Do you think Butch Davis had a bunch of elite blue chippers to work with? **** no. He had unheralded guys like Ed Reed and Santa Moss and turned them into champions. We didnt get the bigtime recruits like DJ Williams until we started winning again.

I 100% agree with ssvir above, we simply aren't going to reel in the elite 5 stars until we start putting a better product on the field. That's simply our currently reality. To think the only way we are going to win again is when we land the super elite recruits is the definition of putting the cart before the horse.

Last year they flipped couch and Williams.
some kids don’t pan out or get hurt. Lo was a 5 star, some viewed pope as a 5 star. Keileon Herbert andCleveland reed we’re heavily recruited . We flipped Joyner froM
Fsu. If you add tate bolden jaelan Phillips etc those classes rank a lot higher. It’s about player development too. Rosseau was a 3 star and might be a 1st round draft pick. Harrison hunte brooks and blisset might be better than higher ranked kids
you have to win. That’s why we got the class we got in 2018. All schools throw money around. sec schools have to do it more because you are convincing a kid from Miami to live in some hick town.

I feeel what your saying but at the end of the day since it’s been 15 years our fans excuse has changed to we don’t win that’s why kids leave bs. Kids are not going to winners to win the only reason that’s a saying cause over the years the wins have piled for other teams.......but it’s never changed the fact that kids don’t come here cause of it cause at some point in time LSU was a loser bama was a loser Clemson was a loser....UF was a loser......nothing’s changed but money became greater in size and greater in kids minds cause the world we live in. Money moves everything and money is there God that’s why they choose these schools, it’s not because there nice places it’s money. Until we bag and adopt a system (which it’s too late now cause the rules are changing that allow the SEC to eat big time) we r cooked.

The only surprise to me was the Williams kid

Rousseau everyone knew was a beast they just didn’t know what position he would play. Our player development is bad yes but then how is a guy rose beasting with the same development that Patchan is getting yet Garvin and Patchan are trash? Simple Rousseau is a Sunday type talent we found. We finally got one.....we need a HC like urban to get highly ranked guys and to find the Greg’s of the world.

Your theory is that we won't be relevant again until we hire a $10M coach (not happening and wouldn't be happening for two plus years anyway) and that we need to pay to win.

If that ends up being the truth then what is the point of you even being a Miami "fan"?
The reason is to suffer with u guys cause I’m a team player

All jokes aside u just love what u love man....I can’t change teams I just cant

Im not sure with some people it’s development and not talent. Do you think Saban or Dabo is making Shaq or dj ivy a stud?

Nope saban can’t turn them into studs, he wouldn’t recruit them maybe shaq he would recruit and shaq would benefit from the DL and look better because of the talent around him. DJ would not sniff a saban offer he doesn’t have the intangibles for saban, saban looks for what Miami used to look for. Shaq in Clemson’s scheme won’t work either.
