Canes offer 2019 OT Elmonus; Wake commit gives thoughts on UM's flip chances

Not saying I agree With the offer or not but I dont Get it.

On one hand y’all say we don’t have viable backup plans and “we put all of our eggs in one basket” but then on the other hand when we do go after some of these backup options it’s considered scrambling by some. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t

Exactly...The Evan Neal ship sailed gentlemen. We need tackles like oxygen...Let's evaluate and start offering.

We are well under the scholarship limit soooo why not. If it puts on weight and Strength and is a true tackle then great. His strength program might be trash

Agreed. It's disappointing that we didn't get Evan Neal, which is an understatement. But it's better having viable backup plans, rather than not getting bodies in at all this cycle which could set us back even further. At least provide the next OL coach with something.

The real question...like 90s eluded to above. Is why this kid and a couple other potential LT prospects (even if they are kids who need 1-2 years, need weight but show raw athleticism) don't have an offer already? Quit playing at 78-80 schollies and recruit aggressively

From a local high school here in Asheville, NC. Competition is decent but not top notch. Seems like a reach.

“I was slightly surprised at the offer because of how late it was.”

Coaches scrambling. We're now competing with Wake for recruits.
It’s not like the need for OL, specifically OT, just popped up. I swear Searles, Richt do not know how to manage recruiting and numbers, which is why we don’t have a High school QB on the radar

Yeah. Richt all of a sudden became a recruiting moron. Poor fellow. He must have taken a hard fall or something. He went from having very good recruiting classes at Georgia and last year. To not being able to recruit at all. He should just quit coaching. I mean sounds like all Miami has to do is come on here, pluck a couple of these recruiting geniuses on this board and problem solved. ****, we could probably build a phenomenal coaching staff, just off this board.

The difference was the local kids for the most part were staying home. Couple that with playing in the SEC and Bags and you have your answer. These coaches didn't just forget how to recruit.

People actually think Richt cant recruit? SMH

While I would agree that he's shown he can recruit in his first 2 years here, the OL recruiting this cycle has been an embarrassment. If they don't sign a couple of impact guys, the OL situation is going to be pretty bad 2 years down the road. Maybe there will be more grad transfer options out there in 2019 like Boulware last year but can't always count on that. Are kids just running away from Searels?

He has a former bartender and a lower credential high school coach on his staff currently..additionally his son that should just be filling water bottles at this time. Yea he **** well can more than likely.

Its when they do it.

The problem is, and has been, the staff doesn't identify real Plan B and C types and recruit them, keep them in the loop during and after the summer...so when the Plan A prospects go to Bama or wherever...Miami scrambles for the Plan Ds and players they are still evaluating.

Its just poor planning.

This kid definitely doesn't look like a Plan D, I know that...he needs sometime sure, but he is very athletic for a tackle prospect.

And I agree shoulda been recruiting way more offensive tackles.

Searles recruiting him is not a good sign. Fml. If Richt doesn’t make any changes I’m going to go ape ****.
