The Miami Hurricanes offered 2021 Wynne (AR) 3-star OT Terry Wells just days after he committed to Arkansas back in early February.

The call came from Rhett Lashlee, and Miami’s offensive coordinator is attempting to flip the Wynne High star over to the orange and green.

“When I received an offer from the U, I was very shocked,” Wells said. “I felt truly blessed to receive a big offer like that. I told them that my interest was high and that I will hopefully be able to take a visit.”

Since that time, Wells has also gotten to know both Miami OL coach Garin Justice and offensive assistant Jonathan Brewer. The pair have been pitching Wells on the changes going on within the UM program, and Wells says that has resonated with him. The lineman said he was trying to set up a spring official visit to UM, but that now he is looking at a summer trip to Coral Gables as a best-case scenario following the shutdowns.

“I have kept in touch with coach Brewer and coach Justice, our relationship is going good right now,” Wells said. “I most definitely love the change in the atmosphere (at Miami). It’s different than down here (in Arkansas).”

As of now, Wells is only considering a flip to UM. The 6-4 290 pound lineman has been committed to Arkansas since early February, and although he’s planning on continuing to take visits, Wells emphasized that he’s locked in with the Razorbacks as of now mostly because of his bond with the staff in Fayetteville.

“It’s going great with Arkansas,” Wells said. “I love coach Sam Pittman and coach Brad Davis.”

Ultimately, what will a program have to show him to flip Wells from his Arkansas commitment?

“Academics-wise, I’m looking for a great business program, and most definitely a great football program,” Wells said.

A relatively late-blooming prospect, Wells received his first offer just this past December from Kansas following a strong junior season, and he is already nearing consensus 4-star status on the 247Composite. Wells played mainly right tackle for the 7-5 Yellowjackets in 2019.

“My season went great,” Wells said. “The team made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, but I definitely believe we could have done better.”

Not knocking anyone here, But with this OL recruiting MIAMI needs big boys that can come in and make an impact early on.. We can't keep signing OL guys that needs one year to develop!!

News flash that’s what all major programs do... the trenches 98% of the time need a year or two of S&C to get adjusted..

We ain’t signing the 5star freaks who are plug and play... who are the other 2%.

LoL, this not the pro's, no free agents in college, takes time for o-lines, this year if football continues and the guys are healthy will be our most experienced o-lines in about 4 years. Combine that with a common sense offensive approach, this o-lines should be much improved!

A year or two! Miami's OL has been underachieving since Golden was here!! We had 2 decent seasons with good OL play under Richt and in those seasons when Miami played a good DL they destroyed our OL.. When was the last time a Miami OL player was taken above the 4th round of the draft?
Just saying, the recruiting has to be better at the OL position!! These last two seasons the OL play has been horrible..

I never said he didn't know OL. I said let's see how he recruits without the UGA bags.

I would be willing to bet you the 5 highest OL he's ever signed were all in the last 3 years at UGA.
And you would be wrong as he got a borderline 5* to UNC, 10 years ago. A couple high 4* to Arkansas, including Denver Kirkland!

Imagine thinking Denver Kirkland wasn’t recruited by Randy Leonard Shannon. Yikes.
Imagine thinking only 1 coach recruits each player. Dont spin everything to make you look right. Of course, Pittman recruited better at UGA than Arkansas and UNC, comes with the payroll. But he was already great at recruiting, the uga bags just put it over the top.
