Simple. He looked like crap last year. His stats were awful. He didn't look like he knew how to read a defense and he looked like a high school QB thrown in a college game with no prep. He made stupid off field mistakes and publicly stated he didn't like watching film. He acted like he didn't care and that's how it looked through his play.

He's apparently putting in the effort and getting good coaching now. If he wins the starting job and has a great season, how can anyone not see that as a great redemption story given his abysmal performance last year?

Im glad i didnt technically have to answer cause enuff smart people on here already did, i believe it was said already, but in case it wasnt, the whole offense is in redemption mode. All the crybabies from last year cant cry now, manny is smart, coach diaz hit the reset button on them whiner's, so its all on them now, new offense, with all new offensive coaches, the True talent will rise to the top now. And since as of now the only True qb commit on the roster is perry, who you never heard about waffling, im going with the True Cane, those other 2 can only get in that category only by elite play that helps to bring us a national championship, otherwise until than, they just here, let's see what jw does if he's not named the starter, he keeps putting unecessary info out their, like the article saying "jw feels confident he can win Miami's starting qb job" why is that necessary to be put out there, just shut yo green **** up and do it, but it sounds to me like he hoping by trying to speak it into existence instead of raising his level of play into existence!

Also perry has the height and is accurate with the football, and has that ability that the real qb's have, that ability to catch fire in an instance, plus he has a rocket.

I didn't blame anything or said he had a great year. IDK why you take it upon yourself to regurgitate stats from last year. The kid was a RS freshman and 1st year starter. Last year's performance is not the end-all-be-all. Players will improve from one year to the next.

It's a crime. Hightower didn't get more looks last season.

The drop brothers should've been kept on the bench.

Its not a crime, he should've been redshirted, quiet as kept, that man was banged up for most of the season last year, him, pope and harley all should have redshirted.

This discussion is about stats correct?
Manny saw enough of Perry last year, believe me. I don't think there is anything Perry can do to change Manny's mind, somethings you don't forget.
Williams and Tate will be 1a and 1b, Perry will replace Weldon as 3rd string.
Could you imagine Perry trots on the field and performs poorly in Orlando?
TNM image would be destroyed, all we would hear is the same old Miami.

Take that BS elsewhere. Good thing you're not Manny. No coach is going to give up on a player especially a young one. This is a competition dummy.!!! Nobody gives a f#*k about last year. What they do for me now is all that matters.

Then tell me Dummy, why was every offensive coach, everyone of them, fired after last year?
You did say nobody cares about last year, I guess Manny does.
smfh... #1 CanesFan should be changed to #1 dummy.

What are you stuck on stupid? The thread is about the weekend scrimmage. Most of us here are interested in the present and immediate future. We want to know about the current staff and how the current players are developing. Last year is gone. Can't go back and change it, so stop wasting everyone's time talking about it.

No one should be judging our players off of what they did last year in that scheme and with that staph. Manny said they all get a clean slate and I'll take him at his word on that. All that matters is what they do now.

If Perry sucked last year but everything clicks for him this year where he outperforms the other 2 QB's, why would that be bad? Hopefully the guys who can best get us to where we want to be are the ones driving this thing come August 24th.

Perry WAS a high school QB thrown into a college game w no prep.

His QB coach was Jon Fing Richt. His OC was Mark Fing Richt. The guy got no coaching. Neither did Jarren. We have no idea what those guys will turn out to be.

But yea you’re right he was a knucklehead

Actually its about the scrimmage as well as stats, now I understand, it's ok.
Number #1 Dummy.

Perry had no coaching at all since he got to Miami. Nobody has any idea what he will look like once he has someone to teach him to be a QB.

Manny will start whichever of the 3 performs best.

May be but we heard reports of Willis dominating in 2017 the year he sat out yet people tried to dismiss it saying nobody worth a **** was blocking him and look how that turned out

These ninjas don’t know what they’re talking about.

Thank God you’re not the coach!
