They've been highlighting the Top Five Opposing players/coaches/ coordinators on their schedule at each position over the past couple of months. Interesting to see which positions had Canes making the cut....

Defensive Tackle: Nesta comes in at #1

1.] Nesta Jade Silvera (Sr.), Miami, Sept. 4, Atlanta.

2020 season: Saw action in all 11 games, making 10 starts. All-ACC honorable mention choice after leading all UM interior linemen in tackles (35) and tackles for loss (eight). Five quarterback hurries put Silvera in a tie for the team lead in that department.

Area where Alabama will need to be effective: Combine the aggressive approach employed by UM's defensive front and the turnover Alabama is experiencing from guard to guard and there are a lot easier opening-game scenarios for an offensive line than the one UA will get in Silvera. With that, Silvera will look to carry over the five-game tackle for loss streak he had to cap last season into the 2021 campaign.

The other 4 players are : #2 McKinley Jackson, TAMU - #3 Jaydon Peevy, TAMU - #4 Daquan Newkirk, UF - #5 Maason SMith, LSU

Offensive Interior Linemen: Corey Gaynor comes in at #3

3.] Corey Gaynor (rSr.), Miami, Sept. 4, Atlanta.

2020 season: Gaynor started all 11 games at center for the Hurricanes, pushing his consecutive starts streak to 24 in all. Named ACC offensive lineman of the week after helping UM run game roll up 337 yards in season-opening win over UAB.

Area where Alabama will need to be effective: One of three centers on this list, Gaynor was widely regarded to be the Hurricanes' top performer up front from a year ago. Returns for a final season after serving as a team captain a year ago. Gaynor anchors another opposing offensive line that returns all five starters from a year ago.

Other players: #1 Ben Brown, Ol Miss - #2 Ed Ingram, LSU - #4 Tashawn Manning, AU - #5 Luke Matthews, TAMU

Safety - Bubba Bolden comes in at #3

3.] Bubba Bolden (Jr.), Miami, Sept. 4, Atlanta.

2020 season: Appeared in 11 games, making nine starts. Second team All-ACC choice after recording team-high 74 tackles, including 6.5 for loss, an interception, four forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist.

Area where Alabama will need to be effective: Bolden has settled in as the defensive playmaker many envisioned when he enrolled at Southern California in 2017. The 6-foot-3 Bolden figures to team with defensive captain Amari Carter to lead a secondary that will rank among the Hurricanes' top overall strengths for 2021. For now, Bolden is using the opener against UA as motivation during the offseason. “I stress that to the guys every day,” Bolden recently told reporters. “When things get tough, think about Bama. What is Alabama doing right now? That is how I look at it."

Other players: #1 Jalon Catalon, Ark - #2 Smoke Monday, AU - #4 Demani Richardson, TAMU - #5 Jay Ward, LSU

Kicker: Andres Borregales comes in #5

5.] Andres Borregales (Fr.), Miami, Sept. 4, Atlanta.

2020 season: Ranked by the 247sports Composite as the No. 3 kicker in the nation for the 2021 recruiting cycle, Borregales completed his high school career at Hialeah (Fla.) Champagnat Catholic. As a junior at Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Borregales connected on 12 of 15 field goal attempts, including makes from 56 and 57 yards.

Area where Alabama will need to be effective: Kid brother of 2020 Lou Groza Award winner Jose Borregales looks to fill some mighty big shoes. An early enrollee, the younger Borregales is currently competing against program veteran Camden Price (6 of 7 career field goals) in spring practice.

Cornerbacks: Al Blades comes in #3

3.] Al Blades Jr. (Sr.), Miami, Sept. 4, Atlanta.

2020 season: In eight games of action, Blades recorded 29 tackles, two interceptions and a team-high seven pass breakups. Missed the final three games of the season after being diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart that has been linked to COVID-19.

Area where Alabama will need to be effective: A revamped Crimson Tide receiving corps figures to get a strong test right out of the gate. It's not just Blades who big things will be expected from; Georgia transfer Tyrique Stevenson figures to be one of the top corners in the ACC in 2021 as well. For Blades, simply getting back on the field is atop the list of things to do for the U legacy.

Other players: #1 Derek Stingley, LSU - #2 Elias Ricks, LSU - #4 Kaiir Elam, UF - #5 Emmanuel Forbes, MSST

Quarterbacks: D'Eriq King comes in at #3

3.] D’Eriq King (Gr.), Miami, Sept. 4, Atlanta.

2020 season: Houston transfer settled in as a team captain and proceeded to pass for 2,686 yards and 23 touchdowns while running for 538 yards and four more scores. Threw just five interceptions in 329 pass attempts. Honorable mention all-ACC choice sustained an ACL injury in Hurricanes’ bowl game loss to Oklahoma State.

Area where Alabama will need to be effective: In the ramp up to next season, King's recovery from knee surgery will be on the radar of every UA fan. From the UM perspective, when a quarterback room depleted by transfers is considered, it takes on even greater concern. Even if King, who would be at the top of this list if not for injury, is able to go against Alabama in the opener, will he be at a point where Miami offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee has full access of the playbook? The arrival of wide receiver Charleston Rambo from Oklahoma should prove helpful where the passing game is concerned.

Other guys: #1 Matt Corral, Ol Miss - #2 Myles Brennan, LSU - #4 Bo Nix, AU - #5 Emory Jones, UF

It all starts with King. He is the straw that stirs the drink for both sides of the ball. From there I would rank them 2) Bolden - if he plays up to his all american potential that he showed last year he will be the best player on the field or **** close to it. 3) Rique - has the potential to lock up one side of the field and contribute in the PR game 4) Harley - I wanted to put Rambo but Harley is playing at as high of level as possible 5) Donaldson - coaches are raving about him. Can he open up some run lanes for our backs?

Wait, where’s our coaches/coordinators on that list?
Theyre not listed....

It was our players who have their attention..

however if those players have their attention then by extension those position coaches must be doing something right

They ranked DC and HC but Canes didn't make the cut for either..... Top HC was Jimbo and top DC was Mike Elko from TAMU

😂 at the mention of Carter. Can’t take this serious.

It will get worse too. As the game gets closer Saban will turn UM into the 01 Canes and Manny is the next Bear Bryant.

Hope the team doesn’t fall for it. Bama in private doesn’t respect UM and that’s what Manny needs to convey all off season.
