Canes Football Media Day

Some highlights from the Herald recap today:

On Tyrique Stevenson as a leader:
Addae couldn’t technically be involved with Miami’s player-led practice Tuesday inside the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility, but he had an eye on it from his perch in the football offices and saw cornerback Tyrique Stevenson taking on an important leadership role. “He was basically kind of my stand-in as a cornerback,” the assistant coach said. “You can see him running the show and doing what he does, which — you can’t hate that as a coach. You like player-led teams because those are the ones that end up being elite.”

On Nyjalik Kelly:
He has blown away upperclassmen with his natural ability. Said defensive ends coach Rod Wright: “He does things with no effort that the older guys will see him do a drill and be like, Oh my God, and then he’ll run back to the end of the line and be like, What? Almost like, Can you not do that?”

On Horton & Colbie Young:
Horton, at 6-3 and 190 pounds, will give the Hurricanes some of the size they felt they lacked at wideout in the spring. Said Gattis: “We didn’t quite have as much size as [Horton and 6-4 wide receiver Colbie Young] bring to the table, and so I think their ball skills, their ability to transition in and out of cuts is going to be very important.”

This is why you take Fowles also.

Lol moss gone be a menace

Jake ain’t it, unless he makes a huge leap
Based on what? If he didn’t get hurt last year and TVD starts slow like he did against UNC and Virginia, dude could be our starter right now.

We all watched both spring games. Jake is nice lol Jacurri needs the huge leap for it to even be a competition next year. Tf is going on lol

Thinking that "minor clean up" and "knee" is a real oxymoron, especially considering this minor surgical procedure has him out up to two months. I didn't like the reports that came out earlier about his knee injury and I like this even less.
Missing 6-8 weeks with something knee related is minor when an ACL can be 9-12 months

It is being positioned as something that is better to get taken care of now as opposed to it lingering. 6 weeks would have him back right as camp ends and prep for week 1 begins.

To all the people asking why I said what I said about Jake. I know for a fact he’s struggled a lot with this offense. He was terrible at the spring game. Which is why I said he needs to make a huge leap. I hope he does. I agree he looked great in lash’s O, which was similar to the O he ran his last stop in HS. Im not rooting against the kid, I’m just speaking on what I know.

The question is will Brown want to wait that long. The answer is probably no. If he doesn't beat out Garcia next spring, there is a chance he enters the portal. Players in todays age don't have the patience to wait. The same applies for Garcia if he doesn't beat out Brown next spring.
IMO Garcia may take the gap out of the bridge to the CFP

I understand where you're coming from, but I've seen so-called minor knee clean ups in the past take a lot longer than anticipated and in some cases, the knee was never right again. Guess it depends on what was cleaned up and what the problem was.

Wasn't DWade's original knee surgery a minor clean up?

Nope CIS already gave him the starting job next and a 1st round grade.
