if Sam Bruce Bolts, Miami should go after Steven Newbold.

Steven should be on our radar now. Playing these what if games is a tricky process.

Newbold wants to be a cane too. he follows me on instagram and likes all my Canes post. Kid can play. give us a different dynamic. im confident some D1 school is going to come and steal him.

I was surprised to see he committed to Southern Illinois. Thought he'd be getting more interest from some bigger programs, but he still has an entire senior season to generate some buzz for himself.

Here's his highlights from over the weekend - Carol City High School vs. Oxbridge Academy - Steven Newbold highlights

WR recruiting is obviously a major area of concern since it's our greatest need (inexcusable) and Bruce will flip to UF whenever he wants to stop trolling. Not to mention that Mullins/Henderson have serious academic red flags and Richards will be tough to hang onto.

That being said...even though there's not many highlights of Henderson, his talent looks very legit. Hope his grades check out and he sticks because he's off to a real nice start this year.

Wheeeeeew I love that aggression he's an Ox.... get those grades together bro.... High points the ball good from what the little Ive seen so far

I think some are sleeping on Mr Henderson. Looks and plays like a grown man.

As much as the HC & DC chaffe me, we need wins to keep this class together. I think our last 2 have added depth, but this class stands to be one that could really make a statement a couple of years down the road. We have some monsters committed, need to give them a reason to stay committed.

Go Canes!

**** looks like they dropped 7 and 8 on every play versus Lytle (Servite). Now the low numbers make sense.

MANATEE -- Palmetto's final march down the field deep into Southeast territory had effectively sealed a win at Maechtle Field at John Kiker Memorial Stadium, so Jack Allison decided to try something new. A throw from the 1 didn't work and neither did Octavious James' run up the middle.

Allison called another huddle before third down from the 2-yard line. He came back behind the center, handled the snap and took one step back. A pair of pass rushers surrounded him, and the quarterback shimmied to the left and toward the end zone. He lunged his 6-foot-4 frame to the goal line and pointed the ball across the plane. The Tigers capped their 28-0 win with Allison's second touchdown run in two weeks.

"Those calls are kind of just on the fly. I kind of just made that one up and I just ran with it," Allison said. "I just called 15 power.

"We never practiced it before," He shrugged. "It worked."

These were plays Allison physically couldn't make a year ago. He's dealt with bone spurs in his ankles since seventh grade and as a junior they started to cut into his Achilles tendon. For most of the 2014 season, he played with a torn Achilles.

"I couldn't move," he said with a laugh.

As soon as the season ended he had surgery to repair it. For three weeks he couldn't walk. Even during PHS' spring game, Allison was nowhere near full strength.

Now three weeks into his senior season, the Miami commmit is moving in the pocket better than he has at any point during his career. As Palmetto (2-1) pulled away from the Seminoles (0-3) with 21 points in the second half Friday, Allison moved fluidly and finished with 189 yards on 15-of-27 passing. He also threw a touchdown to Mykail Hillery on the Tigers' opening drive and was picked off once. Although a pair of sacks for negative-11 yards limited him to one yard on four carries, all three of his rushes for positive yardage picked up a first down.

"He really attacked his rehab," PHS head coach Dave Marino said. "He worked seven days a week and worked on his speed and agility to get where he used to be."

After a Brandon Luckett kick return started Palmetto's first drive at the Noles' 33, Allison floated a second-down pass to Luckett in the end zone only to have a potential touchdown dropped. He picked up a first down on the next play with a curl to wide receiver Azavion Smith and three plays later, he plunged forward to pick up two yards and convert another third-down.

He completed the drive two plays later with a curl to Hillery in the front right corner of the end zone to take a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the game.

"That just comes with maturity," Allison said. "Doing it for three years now I'm definitely more comfortable sophomore year, more comfortable than junior year."

When the Tigers began the season they eyed next week's district opener against Sarasota as a time to reach full health. While Allison neared full strength during the summer, James injured his left ankle and missed PHS' opener in Fort Myers.

He returned last week against Manatee and was bottled up for 28 yards on 19 carries. Late in the fourth quarter Friday he finally broke free and put Palmetto ahead 21-0 midway through the final period. The running back took Allison's handoff and darted to around the left tackle. He hit the sideline and flew 80 yards for a backbreaking score. James finished with 115 yards on 11 carries and caught two passes for 41.

"If we came out playing like we did in the second half in the first half it'd be 70-0 nothing," Allison said. "We need to start fast."
