Official Canes Camp Report #11: Coach Addae & Avantae Williams

Happy to see Tae in the family. Glad he is getting into his classes. Also glad to hear Coach praise AB. Dude been through a lot and I'm rooting for a big year. Hoping he breaks out with a solid year and garners attention from the scouts.

Yeah, that INT against Georgia Tech was one of my favorite plays from last year. It reminded me of early 90s Canes football, when guys made athletic plays that made your eyes pop out of your head.

100%.
He is the first athlete I can ever recall talk about looking forward to starting class so that he can meet his professors and start to learn new things. ****, very few academic scholars would say that. I don’t know if Tae was always this mature or if the allegations from 2 years ago and the resulting suspension really got thru to him. But he seems like an outstanding person.
Great post Sir. The young man’s vibe and energy has completely changed. Life experiences creates lessons learned. From what I understand, Ed Reed was his favorite Cane and Ed has also been mentoring the young man since his off the field mishaps.

You can sense he was genuine in this interview too. This didn't seem like a script he memorized. Looking forward to seeing him play a full season as most are forgetting the neck injury prior to the off the field stuff.

rooting hard for Avantae! Love to see how that kid is embracing the opportunities he has. He's gonna ball the **** out!

Kirby seems to surround himself with smart guys on the defensive side. A good sign for coach Addae. Now the offensive side is a different story. (Stacy searles)

Looks like a future DC to me. Learning from Steele is a beautiful thing and he seems to be taking advantage of that opportunity.

Not to be "that guy" but half the posters on this site wanted to send him to the electric chair just last summer. Amazing how one year can change things. Give credit to Manny (or whoever made the decision; I know some posters will say "Oh trust me it wasnt Mannys decision at all") for giving him a 2nd chance and allowing him to prove to people that one bad day shouldnt judge him for life.

Great safety play can mask alot of weaknesses in a defense. Redwine and Jaquan covered up ALOT of **** with that Manny defense and we didnt realize it until they were gone.. Lets hope JW, AW, and Kam can bring that same level of impact to this defense. They definitely have the talent to do it.

Not sure who made the final decision but I do remember reading Pata was there for him in court etc.

Addae speaking to Steele's vast gameday experience and having answers to unfolding scenarios inspires confidence.

That story is an example of how not everything is always as it seems. Manny did the right thing there for everyone involved, especially his kid.

I think Avantae is going to be the best Saftey on the team this season, even better than JW and Kinchens, whom are ballers in their own right.

Agree 1000%. That was so hype

For every 2nd chance there's 20 who don't get one. He's blessed & I'm glad to see him making the most of it. The real lesson here is to avoid the "one bad day". One mistake & everything you've worked for can be gone.
