Miami secured the signing of Bolles offensive lineman JJ Sparks.



He’s a 6-foot-3.5, 300-pounder who has nastiness, twitch and IQ at the center position.

Sparks, who has started since his freshman year at the North Florida powerhouse, is a big body who plays with an edge and shows good foot quickness to mirror and in open space. He’s racked up 1st team all-state honors for his efforts, and looks to continue to develop as the center of the future for ’the Canes.

He's listed at 6'2" and 290. Not sure if you've seen the movie Fletch with Chevy Chase, but SJ's listing reminds me of the scene in Fletch when Chevy Chase was on the Lakers.... "He's actually 6'5", with the Afro 6'9." Feels like the same thing is going on with SJ cuz that dude is 6'0" tall if he's standing on a phone book.

He might. I would 100% agree with you if he didn't see game action this past year. I don't think he's a horrible take. I do think he lacks the size (pause) that is required to be elite at the P4 level. He's probably best suited to play at a school like San Diego State.

I remember KC Jones and I've met him a couple times. He was listed at 6'1" and seems to be legit at that height. SJ looks significantly smaller than KC.

I didn’t realize he played this year . I don’t pay attention to the ol until they get a false start , holding call … I paid attention to the start center a few times because he shouldn’t have been here

He's played a lot of H-Back/Lead blocker role. He's also worn several different jersey numbers this year (none of which were #35 to my knowledge) and I don't think any of them had his name on the back. I know for sure he's worn #46 and #82. He's listed as #65 on the roster.

You haven't noticed him every time we go into that big goal line set? He's also gotten snaps on the OL. He's not great as a lead blocker IMO.
