How about Duke, Wake, Dallas Baptist, Oral Roberts, Rice, and other private schools? Not asking rhetorically, I’m curious if they have endowments similar to Vandy?
Duke's, UVA's and Vandy's are all similar. Stanford's, ND'S and several Ivy League schools are quite a bit larger. Now, how they deploy those, I don't know.

Why are we acting like talent acquisition is the issue? We’ve had plenty of it to get further than we have- the problem is fundamentals and development.

Baseball, like football, is fortunate enough to be in arguably the most talent-rich area in the country. Get someone who gets the most out of what we have and our seasons will be much longer.

If vandy didn’t have that endowment fund they’d be in a similar boat as Miami.

Vanderbilt still has to find players from coast to coast, and that takes work.

You can’t just look into elite players with affordability

But you CAN look at more than just south Florida. We were able to do that in the past WITHOUT the advantage of having everything available online.

Can't agree our pitching talent has been totally top-notch and just needing development. Some NIL_money even if from the despised (by some) AROD would help an awful lot.

We’ve had good talent at the top. Depth has been an issue for a long time. We’ve brought in way too many guys who can’t play at this level, especially on the pitching staff.

Look at the lineup this year. Top half was good. The bottom half was giving you nothing and there weren’t options on the bench any better. Development definitely needs to be better but I’ve seen way too many guys with no business at Miami on the roster for way too long.

Talent IS an issue, but not for the reasons they are claiming. As has been said here for years, we have taken the lazy route by signing the local Perfect Game 9.5s, and those guys don't turn out to be much more than showcase heroes who are good enough for 2nd in the Coastal. We don't identify baseball players.

For sure, I’m not gonna claim talent level can’t improve- it’s never just one issue.

But Rosario should have never been as bad as he was, and while talent could be BETTER, the disparity between expected development vs actual development is much bigger than that of expected talent acquisition vs actual.

This. Looking at the amount of quality arms these teams in Omaha have you can see how far behind we are with our pitching talent and depth. Add in the lack of development and it’s no mystery why we’re making a coaching change.

Amen

Rice has something of similar ilk, not sure if it’s the equivalent or not. No idea about the others.

Plot twist… Gino was stale and deserved to be let go but I don’t see any current candidate outdoing him with the current climate of college baseball.

Unless you get a massive nil commitment from boosters, scholarship rule changes and another massive permanent seating renovation at the light, mostly things will be almost exactly the same.

This is like firing a football coach that goes 9-3 and telling yourself it’s cfp or bust after that. I don’t see it.

Note: total cost of attendance is now between 78-88k depending on certain factors. Exponentially outpacing state schools like never before
If you understood why UM raises tuition faster than the pace of inflation, you'd also understand that they don't have to and it's entirely self-inflicted.

But the state of Virginia doesn't compile CWS-level talent, so UVA has a ton of out of state players on their team. Out of state COA at UVA is $75,000 to $80,000. Virginia has the same battle we do, but they own us.
Yup. UVA has to dip in to states like Tennessee and the Carolinas to field talented rosters every year and they might as well be a private school with what they ask them to pay to attend. Liberty who has a well run program is a private school and has to as well.
