Been clamoring all year how our team consistently makes stupid mistakes and decisions. It was in full force again yesterday.
Exhibit A: Williams needs one more yard to gain a first down. Instead of putting his head down a bulling forward, he inexplicably runs laterally and gets stuffed.
Exhibit B: Williams decided against throwing a hail mary into the end zone. Instead he decided to run the Duke lateral play with a bunch of lineman. Did he think it was the last play of the game and not the half? Did he not realize a fumble could be picked up and ran back by the Defense? He either is dumb as a rock or is scared to show that he cannot throw the ball 50 yards. Either way we are screwed.
Exhibit C: And I hate to pick on the guy because he is one of my favorite players, but Hedley runs 6 steps towards the defense and almost gets it blocked. He did however shank the punt. We had a real opportunity to pin them deep and that backfired.
Exhibit D: This one is on the coaching, specifically Enos and Barry. How many times did we not have a plan for the delayed A gap blitz? They literally ran it all game and we never once accounted for it. Not after half time, not even after the 3rd quarter. Every 3rd and long they sent a delayed A gap blitz and we never once accounted for it. Absolutely pathetic.
Until we field a team with smarter coaches and smarter players, get used to mediocrity. I don't care how much talent or brawn we have. It starts with a smart leader at the QB position that will hold the offense accountable for any mistakes made. We do not have that right now on this roster. TVD better be the answer or we are screwed again next year. If we are going to get beat, let the other team beat us. Stop handing teams the game with dumb football.
