Can this OL be fixed?

Most of them look like they should be scheduling appointments with Dr. Nowzardan in Houston.

First order of business is getting the big sloppy pussies hanging over their belts off of them. They all looked like advanced diabetes patients with those flabby pussies and slow lethargic movement.

Get them in shape with a new program. You hired Searels because you think he's an upgrade. He needs to be. And you can help these guys and accentuate what they do well via scheme.

In other words, these guys are good enough. It's up to Richt to maximize their effectiveness through nutrition, strength, technique and scheme.

Yes. People forget how young these guys are. They were also mismanaged by Golden. It is not a coincidence that the line played better when he got fired.

McDermott should have been starting at LG from Day One. He didn't even play there in camp. Gall should not have seen a meaningful snap. It was obvious in camp that he was not good enough.

Darling, Linder and McDermott will be good players if developed properly. Odogwu is a talented guy with bad knees. Isidora has been a disappointment but there is a reason Wisconsin wanted him. St. Louis and Milo have ability. Mahoney has a chance to play here.

Cut the excessive rotations, build continuity and chemistry with your starters, and keep developing your talented underclassmen. One of the positives from this season is that our OL got a ton of game experience. That will speed up the process.

Fully agree that excessive rotation on offense and defense was a major problem. Get these fat dudes to lose some weight and get in shape and their play will be much better.

Can this OL be fixed? No, they are simply not very good. it will take a few recruiting cycles to get the right guys to turn the OL into a strength. Can it be improved to the point where it is no longer a glaring liability? Possibly. Better S&C (hopefully), no Kehoe, and better play calling (e.g., no more slow developing stretch run plays behind zone blocking) should all help but truly "fixing" this unit will take some time.

The 5 most talented OL on the roster are:

Trevor Darling
KC McDermott
Tyree St Louis
Bar Milo
Nick Linder
great list dude, but I've seen Bar Milo practice, he's our most naturally talented lineman...36 inch arms, the most athletic, and the best footwork due to his background in basketball and you don't need to know much about football to know there is ALOT of potential there. He deserves the chance to be the LT if he earns it

And thus why Art was let go.

In what world is Darling better than Sunny?

I'd move Sunny to LT (he is taller, has longer arms, quicker and more athletic than Darling) - he was the best O-lineman last year, and has a huge future ahead of him

Move Sunny to LT and if St Louis develops move him to RT. Then I'd move Darling to LG. If St Louis doesn't develop quickly, move Darling to RT

I think the Oline will be a strength next season

Explain a little further how one of the worst OL's in school history is going to be a team strength next season? That's one miraculous turn around. I'm asking can the mess we saw last year be fixed.

Odugwo is not a LT, he doesn't have the feet to play the position, if he did that's where he would've played this year and Darling would've stayed at RT (where he didn't play that badly as a freshman).

talent is there mcdermott, darling 4 stars , coming off knee injuries both of them. odagwu had alot of penalties. holding, false starts. i don't see how he was the best tackle. mcdermott barely got to play last year.

to me mcdermott and darling with an oline coach who is on his game should improve by leaps and bounds. st louis, the juco lt signed last year and bar milo will all have a say in tackle spots also. gauthier and brown will have a say at gaurd also.

to be honest joe brown should of started last year. but golden rotating oline guys and given guys who were good in practice but sucked in games alot of play time hurt the oline. frankly they should of started year with mcdermott at lt, brown at lg, and darling at rt. that alone would of made this a better oline.

i know people say that mcdermott and darling are gaurds. i disagree. im not a scout and neither are they. mcdermott and darling flashed as freshman. regressed as sophmores. to me some of that was coming off injury, some was lack of play time for mcdermott and some was just bad coaching.

Darling didn't have a knee injury.

not necessarily. golden obligated kehoe to sub OL in and out. kehoe told me that in person last summer. golden also played favorites and made personnel decisions, overriding position coaches. while i think we needed a wholesale coaching/staff change, i would not blame kehoe for all of the problems.

Sunny and McDermott had knee injuries. McDermott should of sat this year unless he got a medical last year.

Milo and St. Louis should push for the LT spot. Darling, McDermott and sunny are good RT/LG options. Gall should backup nick at C.

The new S&C staff has their work cut out for them for sure. Weak, fat, slow. Bad combination.

I don't like to speak badly about kids on the team but Gall isn't good enough to play at the University of Miami and should be asked to explore other options for his last year of eligibility.

Yes.

Darling was shaky at times but he definitely improved and now has a full season under his belt at LT.

McDermott seemed to flourish as a guard. He obviously isn't fit to play tackle but he can maul.

Linder will only get stronger. Much like S. McDermott who got noticeably better as he got stronger.

Isidora has played a ton.

Dogflu will get pushed by St. Louis, Milo, maybe even Jones.

The good OLs always have a ton of combined starts. Last year's unit had under 15 heading into Bethune.

This is the second day in a row you come on here to give these exact details about Bar Milo. Since you've seen him practice, are you willing to share more of what you've seen? Everyone is intrigued. He has great feet. Looked very light, though. Let's hear it, please.

Ideally Darling moves back to the right side, he's not a LT. Agree that McDermott looked better inside but I'm not sure he's a mauler or that we have a mauler on the roster. Hopefully moving to a power run blocking scheme will help tremendously.

the same goes for every position group. i have never seen more substituting than the last 5 years, on both sides of the ball. sure, context requires some personnel changes, but it was a constant shuffling that often created confusion and lateness.

In decades of watching football, I've never seen Safeties rotate in and out regardless of down and distance. It was inexplicable.

I believe the coaches need to find the correct positions for the guys on the line and leave them there. How are you supposed to become a competent LG when you have to take half your reps at RT? We saw the exact same issues during Kehoe's last go-round right before Coker canned him. Constant shuffling. Not in and out of the game to get rest but moving guys around to different positions constantly. Enough with the "best five linemen" crap. I want the best LT playing LT. The best C playing C and the best LG playing LG. Some guys can be dominant at certain positions but end up struggling at others. Position flexibility is nice but let's work on learning one position first.
