Can Richt keep this team together?

Concerned this team may begin to split along offense/defense side of the ball. It's clear the defense save 1 game has played at an elite level. Even in a loss, they only surrendered 16 points. The offense clearly lacks any accountability to the success of the team. It's been mentioned that Diaz had to tell Richt don't score on the final FSU drive ahead 28-27. That wasn't just to protect UM's defense, Diaz didn't want UM's struggling kick coverage unit taking the field in a 1 possession game.

in my view if the offense doesn't start pulling its weight, there will come a time when the defense will just bend and break and pack it in. Then things will get REAL ugly and then you have a problems on your hands if your Richt

And if this defense falls off just a little bit, oh boy....

True richt even admitted in the post presser. Diaz convinced him not score after he brought to Richts attention

I'm waiting for the defense to have a "f*ck you offense" game and give up like 40 points after Richt does his usual run run pass combo in 2 straight drives.

That'll go over with with pro scouts and Diaz's future employers. Maybe they have some integrity and will focus on handling their own stuff . . . just spitballing here.

I really think if this offense stalls at BC it could happen here. Colder game(which we traditionally don't always react well to), BC's red bandana game, they have a pounding, physical style and AJ Dillon should be back. So yeah, there could come a point in this game if the offense is doing what they did this past weekend, the defensive unit could just capitulate

obviously u have a good rep here and bring alot to the forums. Thanks for your input cause if its one of us "the mopes" we are not real fans or over exaggerating.

I gotta think most of the guys on that D are hoping to at least get a shot at the league. I can’t see em giving up just because the O sucks.

I cant see our defense rolling over, I do think they learned from the LSU game. The way the defense basically won us the game against FSU proved it, granted they need to continue to show that on the road (we saw the frustration boil over a bit at end of the game vs VA)

So, I dont see a quit/roll over as much as frustration penalties, etc. What I REALLY think happens...if the offense doesnt pull their weight I think there’s a revolt/mutiny coming directly at Richt by the entire team. These guys know they are too talented to lose to Virginia. Richt has had 7 games to get the offense right, hasnt worked. I guarantee the defense looks at the offenses they prep for vs. the offense we are running and shakes their heads. I also think they are in the ears of the offense, letting them know how basic Richt’s scheme is. It is a joke and he is losing the team as we speak.

If there’s one thing I have faith in, it’s that the leaders on this team wont let it go much longer. The defense has some real men on that side, such as Jaquan, Shaq, Sheldrick...I have the confidence in them to let Richt know he is losing the team (if they havent already). We can all hope he finallycomes around, switches up the offense, and eventually brings in an OC in the offseason. Not holding my breath tho.

Go look at our players on their social media platforms. Life is just fine. They're rolling along and doing their thing. Losses happen—as anyone who plays sports realizes.

The only ones losing their minds are grown-*** adults, on message boards spewing conspiracy theories.

Some of y'all need to get a grip with this nonsense. Mark Richt has been doing it at this level for decades. Relax.

Never happen. We got a bunch of dogs on defense, those boys have too much pride to pack it in. They’ll play their tails off to the last whistle. What worries me more, if they have a bad game, and it happens to even great defenses, then what. Is this offense going to be able to score 35 and win the game... helll naw.

Diaz will not let the defense do that too much pride for that to happen.you could see more unnecessary personal fouls because the defense is a little ticked off at the offense.cmr better get off the toilet and draw up a better game plan.one that helps Perry gain confidence in himself.

Every year in baseball or football there is a guy who comes out of nowhere midseason and lights it up, then suddenly turns to garbage the next season. Why? Because teams don't have film or scouting reports on the guy. As soon as they do, they solve the player, and unless he adjusts it's all over for him. What happened with Rick? Teams figured out how to time his fastball. That's the only pitch he knows, so it's over.

I hope Manny has enough juice to collectively inspire the pride of the defense. Not let them rollover.

Pittsburgh’s coaches figured out Rosier’s tendencies, and dared Miami to win because of him. A lot of fans saw Miami receivers running free all game but Rosier couldn’t or wouldn’t see them.

Clemson was just overwhelming at every position and on the sideline. Even if Rosier was a good quarterback we’d have lost.

Wisconsin and LSU followed the Pittsburgh model. Make Rosier beat you.

Now, with Perry it’s different and not different. Perry can make all the throws, but the combination of his inexperience and Richt’s conservative playcalling limits what the defense has to contain. Stuff the run, and make Perry beat you with limited plays.

You're not wrong in terms of the overreaction, but that bolded (and especially italicized) part is what I guess worries most.

Yes he can because he will just cut and/or bench any dissenters.

No matter how talented.
I know we are past "inside info" for obvious reasons... but one might expect dissent from some on the offense unhappy with Rosier back in the entire VA game when maybe just a "settle down" moment was wiser. Even Perry (who hinted something about going to keep his mouth shut in Instagram) might have somehow expressed some dissent (and so was benched longer.) At risk of being accused of conspiracy and imaginings and such, I will just say this Rosier reinstatement is worrisome in that it is not likely to further team accord and spirit in a positive way.

(Seriously and by way of explanation, I could picture Perry yelling something like "WTF Harley?" after that interception that even coach later blamed on Harley, but stubborn disciplinarian Richt deciding to "teach Kosi a lesson for acting out".)

The defense won’t pack it in, but I can see guys with mid round grades drclaring early just to get outta the situation if it’s really as bad as some are saying
