If not, we need to find a punter ASAP. Hate to pile on Feagles, but he's not the answer and has become a major liability. What is our plan here?

**** I just hope he is ready to kick fg as true freshman.. is he enrolling early? Kicking in high school n college is a big difference, got to get accustomed asap

Exactly and his kicking #s were not that impressive....

Dude could barely punt a ball 30 yards down the field. Baxa better be ready for kickoff duties.

With that being said, it was his freshmen year and man...I can't imagine it have going any worse. One more year of strength added to his leg and maybe some more work on technique with papa Feagles then maybe he gets better.

It cannot get any worse. Right? Right???? Please tell me it cannot get any worse.

Where tf is Jack Spicer

Wait according to Miami website Spicer "Recorded first two punts of Miami career in ACC Championship Game against Clemson (Dec. 2), averaging 42.5 yards with long punt of 51."

That's pretty dang good all be it small sample size.

Ideally, you'd like to set up your specialist recruitment so that you don't have to rely on freshmen to punt or kick. Unfortunately, like many other positions on the roster, the previous staff left a huge void behind the starter and the current staff has had to scramble to replace the punter after year one and kicker after year two. Hopefully they won't continue to wait until a player is a senior before they start recruiting a replacement.

I saw him punt in Charlotte. He made contact on his first punt right around our 45 & it was pretty ugly (nerves?). It only went about 30 yards, but it rolled down to around the 10. If he had kicked from our 25, it woulda been BAD. His 2nd punt looked pretty good though. Much better distance. I bet it went 50 yards in the air. I'd like to see what he can do at this point. My only concern is that there was a reason they went with Feagles over him. I just hope it wasn't because he looked worse than Feagles!

Wasn’t Feagles recruited by Richt?

I don't know what the standard for high school kickers is, but he is the #4 ranked kicker according to 247. He was 5 for 9 on FGs (55%) and 26 for 26 XPs.

For comparison sake:
#1 ranked kicker (Seth Small TX A&M Commit) was 13 for 20 on FGs (65%) and was 79 for 79 on XPs.
#2 ranked kicker (Evan McPherson Miss St Commit) was 7 for 13 on FGs (53%) and 36 for 36 on XPs.

It would seem that his stats are pretty on par with other high school kickers and could have been better had he got more FG opportunities.

Feagles punted pretty well early in the season... especially the FSU 1st half. It's not like he can't boom them. Is it coaching? Our special teams suck overall.

I think he was getting a lot of lucky bounces and rolls in the FSU game that padded his stats.

Yes it is definitely coaching that forces Feagles to kick the ball off the side of his foot. We are instructing him to do that for spin and fun.

I can tell you from my current experience with a Kicker (my son is a K/P) When your high your HIGH and when your low your LOWWWWWWW. Talking about the mental aspect. My son has been to the same camps as BAXA and I can tell you that he was predominantly recruited because he can boom it out the end zone in KOs. His FGs to me are average in accuracy as most others. IMO If UM wasn't so cotdam expensive I would tell my son to walk on and he could easily compete or surpass Feagles, Spicer or Baxa.

Does your son have any offers?
