Can anyone shed light on this?

Only 13 other soph's and jr's going pro this year not to mention the sr. class..I'm sure he can get picked up as a free agent somewhere..

Third day picks often end up cut or on practice squad. Not exactly the best strategy for a long and fruitful career in the NFL. Higher round draft picks are always given more time.

Coley won't be drafted if he comes out this year; however, he has as much ability as another former Miami WR who was not drafted but is tearing up the NFL (Hurns)

Coley disappeared for an entire year (2014) and didn't show up again until mid 205. Alot has to do with Golden's ridiculous mind games and handling of players.

Yeah...tell Allen Hurns too.

Golden totally f**ked Coley up.

Golden refused to play his most talented player on offense until he got desperate. Coley never endeared himself to Golden like the less talented kids like Crawford and Trent Harris.

More evidence of how big of a sh**thead Golden was.

Somebody better tell him practice squad doesnt pay as much as he thinks

That move has CFL football written all over it. Maybe he can end up with the Hamilton Tiger Cats and have Jacory Harris throw to him in practice. You need to have leverage to make demands and he has very little. I can understand frustration but you can't make a terrible decision based on your frustration

I think its mostly because 3rd day picks usually just arent as good.

Don't understand why he's even considering going pro. Come back refine your skills get bigger and stronger. Somebody better tell him to ask Tommy Streeter what happened a few years back. Huge mistake if he leaves.

Completely agree, hopefully he is just trying to use what leverage he has to avoid having a 3rd position coach in 4 years and this is just smoke. Hard to believe he could be naive enough to think turning pro is his best decision at this point.

It was a **** show with Golden. Hurns>Coley Up till this year I dont think Coley knew how to run routes other than bubble screen and straight down the field

But Hurns stayed the full four years and it probably helped in the adjustment.

Considering Coley was told he was a likely third-day pick, he might return regardless.

Someone should give him Tommy Streeter's number

Saying that Beard has his trust and doesn't want a 3rd position coach in 4 years

Is beard going with him to the pros? Seems like a load of BS to me. This decision is made on whether or not you want some cash while in training camp.

no but my guess is he's saying I trust Beard that he will get me to a 1st or 2nd round pick next year or I'll take my chances now not knowing who is coming in and if they have my best interest on their mind

I want Coley to stick around badly but you don't keep a coach just to appease a player. We hired Coker because that's who the players wanted and we all saw how that turned out. It's the same way with recruiting, you don't keep Beard just to keep Bruce. I realize they are important players but the overall direction of the program is more important.

Or because they have underachieved relative to their talent for one reason or another, which would be the case here so far

Coley needs the new SC coach as well. In my life, I've never seen someone come off the field hurt on the majority of his touches, like Coley does. I bet more than 90% of his touches result in him motioning tot he sideline and leaving the field. Never seen anything like it at any level. IMO he needs to show the scouts he can be tough for a season, and that he's not a fragile eggshell out there. Very talented but physically feeble.

i figured he was lobbying for Beard to come back. Beard is a great coach. but Richt seems to go with guys he trust more then what the players wants. he is an SEC type mentality. f the players its about the program and winning.

Negged for calling the smart thing to do the "SEC mentality". Maybe it's just what a smart coach does.
