On his family and Miami the legacy: The plan was always to go to Miami. Like, both my parents went. Yeah, my mom, my mom was All-American hurdles, performing hurdles in track. And my dad, he played, he was right back here. People would recruit me, and then they'll see I had got the Miami offer, and they be like, "Man, he ain't coming here."
On the moment Miami became real: Sophomore year, spring, I came down here for a spring visit, spring practice, and shoot, I didn't know. I thought I was gonna get the offer, because like, I had three spring visits before. And I had got offers at those schools. But it just, it never like settled in, like, bro, you getting recruited by Miami right now, like, you know what I'm saying? So when I did get the offer, it was just like, wow, like, I done proved that I can go get the offer. I gotta prove myself that when I get here, I just, I can be better than them. Why would I go to another school that I don't like cheering for? Like, that Cal game, bro, I was about to jump through the screen, rooting for them boys. We up till one in the morning watching the game while playing for a team I don't, I don't root for.
On his hidden cornhole skills: What is one thing that fans may not know about me yet. I'm good at cornhole. I can't admit it for Coach Cristobal. Because he said, give him three years, and every year he got better with what he was doing. And the direction of the program is steadily on a rise, and we gonna be at the top soon. So, you know, just trusting in what he was telling me all those times. Like, at that time, it sounded too good to be true, and then you watched it come to life, so it was just like, I felt like I could put my trust and my faith in him. Man, stay grounded, stay focused, like you know what you're trying to get to. So just don't feed into all the distractions outside of Miami because Miami is definitely one of the places you can get lost in.
On putting in extra work: Yeah, just telling me stay focused, stay on my books, make sure I'm getting extra work in on and off the field, stay meeting around, and it'll get a come eventually. Even if it's not now, even if it's not tomorrow, it'll be here next week or next month.
On what he is excited about: Shoot, running through the smoke, running through the smoke, just making a play in that stadium, see myself, see myself make a play in that jersey. Because like, it still hasn't hit. But like, when we go out there on spring practice, and like, I really realize, like, bro, I'm playing for Miami, then it's gonna be like, yeah, go make a play on TV, now you're really playing for Miami.
