Cam Vaughn commits

I’d help trader pack
Moore I want to keep
The facial expression of Mario when Trader dropped that pass the other night vs Ole Miss, he was ready to help him pack as well.

Trader has become an exceptional blocker at receiver. I think with some extra hard work this summer, he can turn it around. I believe this season is his last chance.

This train is not stopping for anyone.

I hope he stays and moves to corner. Concerns about Moore not getting opportunities with these two portal takes are ridiculous. Same not true for Trader. He's WR6 (or 7 if Wingo is better) next year.

not all on board with this take. Feel like there are other receivers out there. Plus gotta give guys an opportunity to prove themselves
disagree wholeheartedly

I mean yea if money isn't an option we could have gone with anyone not named Coleman (he's getting nearly as much as beck which is just stupid)

but what was our big problem this year? no deep threat ability - well here it is, cam vaughn is FAST

Sounds good to me.

One thing is for sure. Mario is making it clear by bringing these portal WRs in that guys will have to compete and earn a spot and PT. (And not just at the WR position. Looks like this is the emphasis all across the roster moving forward). I think that’s a good thing.

Can’t presume and assume health—taking just these two receivers is needed and not an overkill. Don’t think we know any more or that they will go after more

High floor type take. The guy has a former coach and teammate in the program right now and It's clear Mario is very focused on finding guys who bring the work ethic he demands and have the right personalities to fit into the culture he created.

How do the other receivers on the roster not have the opportunity to prove themselves? There will be an open competition in spring and fall practices and the cream will rise to the top, same as what happens in all top programs around the country.

We got Charles Brantley last year at cb and the expectation from most on here was that he would either start or get extensive playing time. In open competition he was beat out by better players (both transfers and high school signees) and we didn’t see him play the entire year. Same situation here. To remain in the upper echelon of CFB you need your starting players to earn their spots through hard fought, healthy competition with other top players. Limiting your options and promoting players without making them earn their spots through competition with other top level talent risks promoting players who would otherwise have no business starting for a top level program.

I believe in spending and focusing inside out. Wr is all about production, like money ball. I can go get two guys who’ll likely out play one guy together for less money . I want to spend on qb’s, protecting the qb and getting to the qb. This year’s team is the perfect example of what I’ve been preaching for years. Great trenches opens up everything. Why spend 3-4 million on a wr like smith when you can add 5-6 good starters for that? It makes no sense in a world there’s not endless money. More good players on a roster versus one great player with solid players.
We got two wr’s we like instead of spending crazy on coleman
