He should be and might be.

But this kid is rock throwing distance from your school, his mom is in your athletics hall of fame, and he’s an elite prospect at a position where we’ve whiffed on elite prospects in this area for a long, long time.

We hired Mario for a lot of reasons, but none more than keeping this exact type of kid home.

Get it done.

Now, if we sign Keys, and this kid bounces, I’ll overlook the whiff. But not getting Keys NOR this kid is unacceptable.

3 things.

First, if we are a top tier program looking to make it to the playoffs every year then you sign both.
Bama had jeudy, metch, smitty.
LSU had who they had with burrow.
Osu always signs multiple top ten wr’s.
We didn’t hire Mario to only lock down the talent here. We hired him to sign the best players regardless if they played in anchorage or the Bahamas.

Second,
These 6’2 and up receivers never look fast on tape. They look lanky and don’t turnover strides like 5’10 dudes.
Megatron ran like sub 4.4 at the combine and looked like was jogging.

People called AR slow when we were recruiting him and the receipts might still be on this board.

Lastly,
It’s extremely rare to be that athletic at that height and play two sports at such a high level.
To be a borderline consensus 5 star in 2 sports is not common.
To be able to play b ball and receiver requires a level of athleticism that it’s hard to just ignore.
Now I know plenty of football players hoop. But two things men do very well is exaggerate their basketball prowess and their ability to pick up women.

So while there may be some good bball players on the team that can make you some money at the Y. There aren’t any players that would demand top nil from d1 bball programs.

In short. Russell is special and you have to stop the bleeding of kids like this leaving.

Syracuse can't even keep Pena from leaving to go to Penn state a team that doesn't even use their WRs. And we're supposed to be worried about Syracuse for Hampton & Russell when their head coach was clowing their players about NIL

P.S. Syracuse is the darkhorse here, especially if he decides to give hoops a shot at the next level

Syracuse Basketball absolutely sucks. They are no longer your father's Syracuse.

I understand taking him though I totally get it. But I don’t think he’s a 5 star player even with the greatest coaching. I feel like if you a five star you should pop off the screen. And possibly be almost guaranteed a first round type of player. To me he ain’t that. Do you take him? If he comes with Keys? Yes. Do you take him cause of a legacy? If he’s not the crown jewel of that wr class imo then you add him to that group. He can’t be the top wr of a class period

Calvin needs to work on some things, like his route running and his body. He has big upside, high ceiling. Maybe higher than the others we're after. He is a must get, their is no debate on that.

He’s not going to Syracuse, I don’t know why y’all are still hanging onto that. They fell to the wayside in his recruitment a while ago.
