Calling For Coach Richt To Be Fired

It's too bad you "football experts" weren't around at the beginning of the 1983 Canes championship football season, that saw them shellacked by Florida 28 to 3 in the opening game. Because if you were around you would have been calling for Schnellenberger to be fired (****, at that point he had never won a college football championship as head coach), the staff to be fired, the benching of Kosar, along with a sundry list of other changes that you "experts" would have demanded.

By the way; the previous season the Schnellenberger coached Canes posted a 7 and 4 record, having lost to Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Maryland. Certainly, in your intellectually stunted world, Schnellenberger should have been fired then and there, along with the entire staff.

Also, it took that bum Schnellenberger 5 years to win a championship...fire the bum (and the staff)!!

Then, immediately after winning College Football's National Championship, some country bumpkin named Jimmie Johnson became the head coach and won 8 games...and lost 5!! All during that 1985 season you "self-anointed football experts" would have fired the head coach (fun fact: that same coach went on to win several Super Bowls), all of his assistants, every starter, the cheerleaders and the hot dog vendors. One of your deep thinking reasons for firing Johnson would have been the fact he had not won a National Championship...and that means he never will!

You do love insults. I was at Florida Field for that opening day loss. Where were you? Howard loss four the year before because a kid name Kelly hurt his shoulder. By the way, that gave Mark his first big chance. Nobody was calling for Howard’s head because the year before Jim got hurt Howard beat #1psu and then closed season with win over ND and number 8 ranking. Howard planned the NC for kelly’s Senior year so we took NCAA bowl band that year. Jim went down and Mark was not up to the moment. I love the kid and hate pointing of failings but you are an *** so you force it.

You have a point about JJ but not for his first year. His team rebelled and he had been forced to keep most of Houwards staff. The next two two we missed two NCs because he did not know how to coach a Bowl Game. Fortunately for him, he got better and remedied the problems the next year.

The real example of us not knowing crap was Butch. Him we did want fired and flew planes for it. Little did we know he was building the greatest team ever. However, we don’t know if he two would have found a way to lose the big one. That Washington game his last year certainly looked like one. Mark on the other hand was proven track record of it. I hoped being home would put the swag in him he never had. So far not a ounce. I don’t want him fired now but I want him to know **** well he is severe danger of that.

Thank you for making my point...you "football experts" wanted to fire a UM coach in the midst of building the greatest college football team ever! Yet, you are now trying to fire a coach who won 10 games last season and made the Canes brand relevant for the first time in 14 years, won the ACC Coastal division for the first time ever, and took the Canes to a major bowl, the Orange Bowl, for the first time since 2004. Yeah, let's fire him-a stellar idea!

Yes, Richt was not the ideal choice - a fair choice - a place-holder maybe -

Butch Davis was available - and would have jumped at it.

Some would suggest Butch is too old - yet he's the same, exact age as Saban - and I don't hear anyone talking about Saban's age. And if one cares to even LOOK at Butch - he's got a whole lot of years in him.

And we'd know we were getting a coach who knows how to build up a program.

1. These questions were asked last week before the game. They were relevant then and nothing has changed.
2. We won 77-7 against the same opponent in 2013. Does that mean anything?
3. You didn't answer my questions BTW. Are you going to?

I think people are more curious how he made zero coaching changes to correct the obvious issues that existed after the last 2 years.

I don't understand comparing the circumstances of Butch's tenure to Richt's tenure. How are they relevant today ~20 years later?

IMO, Richt is the choice you make when you don't have a plan. Richt is the choice you make when you have no clue what you're doing. Richt is who he is. The body of work is way too substantial and the better part of his career was ~10 years ago. If you're trying to reach the next level, I don't see how it makes sense.

When you evaluate Shannon or Golden, it made no sense to hire either. We don't need to get into this now.

Please note that when I say at this "level" I mean winning conference championships, making the playoffs and getting to NCs etc.
 
Richt is not a bad OC at all. If he calls plays and the play is there like a easy throw and the QB doesn't make it or our OL gets smushed, I cant blame him for that. We are all coming to realize Rosier is very limited. Its the bottom line at this point for me. I wanna see the Fr take over and i will blame him for that but I don't think he's bad at calling plays or we need a new OC. And its funny when people say we running verticals when some teams wish they would do that. If we had a decent QB we would be putting up yards and points we have the skill players to do it

there is urban and saban. then next tier is jimbo and dabo.Kirby might get up there quick then in third tier, i think richt is definitely there. knocking on the door.
